OMG!!! I just got a early copy of the next issue!! The fight between Apocalypse & Phoenix quickly got out of hand, nearly destroying the city. At first it seemed that Apoc was losing the fight to Phoenix, but he began quickly adapt and evolve, absorbing the powers of every mutant on Earth, including those of Jean Grey herself.
The fight eventually went into space with Apoc matching Phoenix, blow for blow, blast for blast, and even shattering the Earth's moon. They say that "our child & experiment in this universe, Apocalypse, has done better than we expected, and the Phoenix threat is no more." Then they turn their sites toward Earth saying "lets us begin".
I'm pretty sure its the Celestials and that they are the same ones from the 616 Universe, experimenting in the Ultimate universe
