But I don't think Kirby would care. He was less an artist, and more a working man trying to pay the bills. He'd probably be just fine with what they did to his creations.

Actually, their logic is less flawed then usual.

Darkseid has, in fact, been retconned as existing in another plane of existence. And the New Gods do exist in a separate universe. And the IG has been retconned as only working in a single universe, as seen multiple time in 616 Marvel, or when T'challa's had to use his IG in a very specific area of the terrain.

So Thanos was never really using his IG against Darkseid, because Darkseid was never really in the same universe. Thanos was fighting avatars.

It might be cheap, but it's not bad internal logic.

Plus, they seemed to be going the whole 'Darkseid is this metaphysical concept' that Morrison was aiming for. Which is kinda hard to punch against.
