"Hey, what's impossible?" asks one of the monks.

"We/need/on/ly/reach/the/door"

"That my friends have been jacked out of the Matrix without a hardline," Sirin says.

"Then the door we shall reach my finally masked friend," Berserker says to the Hunter then to the monks, "Psssh There is no such thing as impossible."

Heph feels a surge of excitement at the thought of reaching the door, but also a twang of uncertainty.

"Do you know what's behind the Door?" Heph asks the Hunter.

"Oh, dude! You humans are SO on this downer on that vibe the whole time! That's not impossible! I mean... dude... we took the idea from you!"

"You/have/the/key, heph/a/stus"

His synthisiser has difficulty with awkward names.

"Call me Heph," Heph says. He pulls the Key out of his jacket, holding it tightly in front of him. "I know I have it, I know what it's meant to do, but I don't know why I should do it."

"How'd you get the idea from us? We don't have anything like that..."

When you say that, heph, it occurs to you that you never told him your name.

---

"Listen, dude," says one monk.

"I mean, the portability of it was our invention," says the second.

"But the basic principle of the signal isolator is something you guys use all the time!"

"We didn't know if it would work of course."

"It needed field-testing."

"But now we know it works; the others have gone back to the physical and our programming worked and..."

All three of them clap hands together.

"BOOYAKA!"

(Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure?)

"Signal isolator..." Sirin says, searching her brains for anything she can remember...

"Signal isolator?" Klez says. "Like what we use when we free minds from the Matrix?"

"Why so much effort to help us?" -Melkor asks, looking at the weird monks a bit suspiciously.- "You seem very diffrent from Lo Qi."

"How do you know my name?" Heph asks, putting a brief pause between his last sentence and this one.

"Yeah! It's a totally bodacious bit of programming."

"Outrageous paradigm, dude!"

"The really gnarly bit is the signal buffering. I mean, we had to replicate that in software. Not easy."

"Dude, our voodoo is just the best!"

"Vodoo?! What the hell are you talking about?"

"Righteous," Sirin adds. "You guys must know what you're doing. What were your jobs in the Matrix before you came to Lo Qi's monastery?"

"Very interesting concept," Klez says. "It could be useful for remote escapes from the Matrix..."

"Actually, it is very impressive, I have to agree. You did a great job." -Melkor decides that he should be nicer.

Melkor- I can easily field that one, seeing you are a Natural.

'Voodoo' is an in-house term used for building certain intrusive computer programmes in the hacking community.

It's not exactly in-date any more though.

"Anyway, dude [referring to Klez], yeah. I mean, you Humans are so with this ''Oh, you can't leave the Matrix without a hardline'... but... dude... seriously... you've ALL done that once..."

-

On board the Shez, Ariadne and Dallas are watching this play out.

"How did they do that? How did they do that?" Dallas is asking, keenly.

"Sssssshhh!" says Ariadne.

-

"Oh, er, dude, we're programmers."

Mors refuses medical attention until all other Shez crewmembers have received it.

He watches the scene with Ariadne and Dallas, leaning on a guardrail.
