>> is the 100pg script really going to be the movie leaving many disappointed?

It will actually be much worse even than that.

What if the 100 page script was an attempt to make something coherent out of a huge fight of opinion between cast and crew, it was the high point of the creative process, and it didn't work?

So, rather than get better from there, it all got much much worse. The final shooting screenplay became a complete mess.

After further arguing, the final version that got filmed: Jack and Elizabeth come together, they are about to kiss -- and there is a sudden THUNK.

Jack Sparrow is hanging from the gallows, at the end of P1, dangling, dead.

Will and Elizabeth, arm in arm, look on. Elizabeth says, and it's the last line of the trilogy, "I wonder what went through his head in those final moments before the noose broke his neck?"

--------

It's awful !

I have to agree...No way would they end it with Jack Sparrow hanging from a noose....if they did...BUST

Terry sure loves being sarcastic...he's probably sick to death of Sparrabethers and laughing all the way to the bank that we fell hook line and sinker...

Actually, Lovethemtigers, I can totally picture that. It doesn't sound far fetched at all. hahahaha.

Ha!

What worries me is that the writers may think that we don't appreciate his work.

I would like to have a little, very little pic of Jack and Lizzie ! I would like a Sparrabeth pic !!!!!!!!! But I think they won't bring us what we want and let us see it on the big screen... For more suspense... I hope this Willabeth promo means a (possible) Sparrabeth ending...

No, I agree with you in some ways. The chemistry and the excitement of the love situation was definitely what pushed the movie into the billion dollar mark (think about how huge the romance novel industry is right now, and then think about "rogue pirate" with "governor's daughter" and it all makes sense).
Gore chose the take because I believe all takes were similar--- Keira CHOSE to play Elizabeth that way, and it worked wonderfully well. But they didn't necessarily foresee the reaction that would come of her pushing things so far in that direction. (You can see that through the merchandising, the novelizations, the original interviews, and the actual script). It was a gimmick, so to speak, for getting to play around the borders of morality, sexuality, and romantic angst, without actually crossing the line into Soap Opera (which is where there is NO right way for things to end).
Does all that make sense?
You just look at the way they chose to respond to the fandom, and the way they are handling this current film in marketing, and it makes sense. To me, at least.

In response to T's response about the script question, sheesh, when are people going to start understanding that they arent going to give out any real info??? They are obnoxiously sarcastic (which is your prerogative when a famous writer I suppose) and are merely playing cat and mouse with everyone.

LOL...oh and just for the record the "Yell at me all u want for saying that Sparrabeth took the franchise to Billion dollar" part wasnt directed towards u....lol...it was directed towards ppl who like to argue that The kiss wasnt a factor.....just wanted to clear that up Kate!

Hmmm i dont know i still think they knew what they were doing! I mean TnT have gone out of their way to explain to us that "If the movie is done correctly one side will have crossed over to the other side and see that Lizzie ends with the right guy!" so they know that they have split the audience in Half.....and then there is the Jack Sparrow and elizabeth swan action figures being sold TOGETHER as a Package! ans Will with Davy Jones....so Marketing wise they are still selling Sparrabeth!

When Keira and Johnny were filming the scenes im sure they knew how they were portraying their characters and Knowing that there were a lot of unanswered questions between the 2 and a lot of WHAT IF's after COTBP....they must have known that they were about to creat a phenomenon....come on it doesnt take a genious to know that FORBIDDEN LOVE is what sells!! So i still think they knew what they were doing and if u asked me....they were Geniouses!!! 😄

I think it's very realistic that their relationship is open to interpretation and sometimes unresolved. That's how real life is. Plus, it's neither character's nature to really confide in someone else explaining just how they feel. I can't really see Jack pulling Gibbs aside and pouring his heart out, same with Liz.

Johnny and Keira know what they're doing. I'm sure whatever happens we'll feel a sense of closure with them, without question, where they stand when it comes to each other.

not liking the way this is sounding at all....

all of us adamant J/E shippers who have posted on here for months have resigned ourselves to a W/E ending....very odd isn't it?

If it makes you feel any better, a lot of Willabethers are having trouble with the concept of the ending as well.

Personally, the idea has grown on me enough to the point where I think I will really be able to enjoy the movie, and I'll have fun watching all the details of the story unfold on screen. 😄

Willabethers are having trouble with the concept of J/E or W/E?

i'm having trouble with Liz waiting on an island for 10 years, I'm having trouble with Jack being a bump in the road, I'm having trouble with Jack's saddness...i'm just having trouble with the whole thing period...

^^^edit.....Jack looks very happy after he shares dukes with Gibbs, so If Jack is happy, then I'll be happy.....

it's not surprising we are all having trouble with the ending. Even if the actual ending isn't exactly what we know now, it will probably be similar.

Remember film 1? The One that got most of us hooked? It was extremely happy-go-lucky, with the most intense angst being centered around poor James getting the shaft, and Jack killing Barbossa (after joking with him the whole film). It was very light-hearted. It was a rip-roaring good old fashioned adventure film. The story itself was cliche, and predictable, but then, Jack Sparrow made up for all that. We loved it because it was so much fun.

Was film 2 as much fun? Not really. Parts were, but they pushed most of it out of rip-roaring adventure tale into epic action tale. (Of course, it was probably a technically better movie, and i know we all really loved it, but it had a totally different feel from 1) There's a big difference. Film 1 wasn't epic... it was grand, but not quite epic. And no one wanted it to be. Making a film epic automatically implies dramatic ending.

So film three looks hardcore epic action film... thats what its being promoted as. So the ending will follow that.

But I think, deep down, most of us wanted an ending more similar to film 1's ending, (not in specifics, just in feeling) to end it all on a light, adventurous note. Ya know what I mean?

IheartPocky: To answer your question first, the rumored ending is Will and Elizabeth. Quite a few Willabethers are not necessarily pleased with the particulars, however, because it's not exactly a happily-ever-after.

Lovethemtigers: I don't think Liz is going to end up alone on an island; I think she's going back to Port Royal.

Kate: Yes, I definitely get the sense that this film is going to be big and epic. The soundtrack alone seems to signify that, even I hadn't spoiled myself so much. 😄

It's a bit of a risk that TnT and Disney took to make Pirates so big, with an ending no one really, really wants. Even if you don't like W/E because they are uh, 'boring', you probably still wanted a Hollywood type ending where all the good guys are happy and there aren't any complications, and AWE is probably not going to do that.

Then again, we could be wrong. 😄 Putting my bitterness aside from Norrington's death and my irritation over the whole Singapore/Chinese Pirates plot-line, I think this will be a fantastic movie.

Why would she go back to Port Royal? What's the use of going back there? Her character has outgrown that place.

That scene with Will and Elizabeth looks volcanic. It was filmed in Hawaii. Port Royal is not volcanic.

Shipwreck Cove is volcanic.

Who says her character has out-grown Port Royal? Maybe she wants to go back there? I know the leaked script is not the final product, but in it, Elizabeth goes back to Port Royal.

The scene where Elizabeth and Will almost kissing in the sunset is probably where they say good-bye right before he leaves to sail as the captain of the Dutchman. The script has them on a beach saying farewell, and sharing a kiss that will have to last them ten years -- maybe even a lifetime.

It's a beautiful scene written on paper, and I'm sure it'll be even better on-screen. 😄

It was filmed in Hawaii. I don't believe Port Royal is volcanic.

Right, she wants to go back to Port Royal where corsets are her best friends. She sure would love to go back. Oh, the memories 🙄

Hey, that new Chinese armor of hers is just as constricting, if not moreso, than a corset. Maybe she'll be tired of adventuring and decide to "retire" as it were.

As to whether that scene is the 'real' ending or just a scene that they wanted to refilm, who knows? 😄 Either way, it looks to be a wonderful scene.

well...if she really went back to port royal,I definitely suppose it would be with JACK coz she WILL BE WITH SOMEONE and if we take the fact Will becoming CotFD,then the only one thing in my mind is that Liz must be with Jack (coz i somehow doubt it will be Sao her man or norrington or gibbs or someone 😄) ...so i think we´ll get sparrabeth even though maybe with that idea-w/l still feeling something to eachother...
