The American Dream ......What a joke!

A tad long but extremely worth reading, I am sure you will give lots of feed back.

Remember the AMERICAN DREAM? You know the great job, the wonderful spouse, the house, kids and decent car. Ok then if this is the true AMERICAN DREAM then why when you are single and poor do you get handed the world from the government (like welfare and huge income tax checks)? Hmmm! Good question "right"!
We'll my husband and I are very much in love and happy to married however my income tax check was not nearly as much as it was when I was single, not to mention the cost to be on my husband's insurance for medical and dental it's a joke.
I believe that the way the system works it is really rewarding the welfare people for not working (in live in PA and only 9.9% of people on welfare work at least 20hours per week). I think that those who are working and not on welfare should be getting the rewards and this way it will be like an incentive for those on welfare to get off the couches and quit making more babies (I for one would rather have my taxes go to childcare instead of welfare so that these parents can go to work and use their own money like I do. And seriously isn't being on welfare make people feel like they are failing? And yes I was on welfare for 1 1/2 when my son was born "I hated it" and so I got two jobs and went to college in the end so that I don't have to be on it. My son is Nine Now! I think welfare should be there for people who are showing some serious interest in gaining independence.
I am tired of seeing people who are on welfare "who are so poor!" wearing Babyphat clothes and the newest released nike's it's sick that the middle class is working hard to buy and support what they have while those on welfare just sit around waiting for the next shopping trip.
Now don't get me wrong not all of those on welfare are lazy, but based on the satistics a lot are!

unfortunately, you are right, but still wrong in saying that their os no American Dream. Being able to become what ever you put your mind to is the American Dream. with enough hard work, personal growth and principal acceptance this can still be accomplished. The middle class has always carried America and has never recieved much in return.

We need class systems for democacy to work. Their has to be poor, rich and middle class. The Beuaty about America However, is that their is an upper middle class and possibility for having no class at all. This is going to change with the slow integration of socialism, where upper middle class will dissapear entirely.

the rich get richer, while the hard working few support everyone above and below. You can count the injustices in the world, and the days you have left...but life goes on and your stuck in the middle. So; what are you going to do about it? Stop worrying so much about how little the middle class recieve and become full hearted with Pride in your work. this will lead to the ascent of obtaining the American Dream. just dont get caught in the machine of living to work

I remember Dusty Rhodes.

How does medical and dental insurance costing money and you not getting a tax return that you like constitute the American Dream being dead?

Madical and dental is a benefit that is handed to those on welfare and those working have to pay an arm and a leg for it, that's all I was impling with that.

I do however have the beginning and middle of the american dream, I have the education, job, the house, the husband, the child, and the vehicles. And now I am back in school getting another degree (cosmetology) because I want and I am taking every oppurtunity of interest that comes my way.

I'm half way my American Dream....got the Cadillac..money...all I need are the wife, kids, home, stuff...

Now, if for some reason I become disable and cannot perform my work....I go on welfare or social...either one is not going to stop my dream. 😉

Is that what you strive for, then? Some formulaic notion of the ideal life?

What I strive for is to always do my best, what upsets yet I don't stress about it, is how as those who strive to be and do there best others benefit off of our work, money and efforts.

Keep in mind I am not stressing over this, in fact this is where people post comments to see how others feel about the situation, so don't think I am stressed! I am just curious if others feel the same about where and what their hard work and taxes go toward.

Thank You! 🙂 🙂

So what do you propose?

Am-eeee-EEEEE-rican dream.

But seriously, make your own dreams.

Victor Von Doom apparently you didn't read all of what I originally wrote and yet you are responding when you only know half of what I said.

The answer to your question is in what I wrote.

Also I am not asking to be questioned or argue with you about this matter or any other matter. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am not ineterested nor do I have to for drama such as arguing with you.

Like I said before this was a simple post to see how others feel.

If you are looking to argue with someone find a different post "please".
I don't have the time there's better things to do then have unnessasary drama!

Anyway!....Thanks for your opinion

Well what then? You are complaining about the situation, and what?

You just want to see if people agree, and then that's that?

Bit pointless.

(I disagree)

Well if you are criticizing me asking what am I going to do about it when I am just asking for opinions.......you tell me this ...what are you going to do about the big issue you posted since you were just asking for opinions as well? "should dogs, cats, or horses be sold as food?"

Stop being so crtitical! I just wanted an opinion give it and then move on thx 🤨

If you think that's bad, go to California. Homeless people get 200 dollars a month just for being homeless.

I didn't post that; I replied to it.

I am not criticising you. You started a thread where you mention something that you are unhappy with. It's a discussion forum, not a 'random announcements' forum. People will discuss what you said.

So, I asked you in a friendly manner- what would you change, seeing as you are clearly unhappy with the status quo?

Lucky them.

As I mentioned before there should be rewards for those trying their hardest and not just hand outs given to those who are doing nothing to better their situations. Thanks all

what's your opinion?

I might be having a threesome next weekend. My American dream will soon be fulfilled.

The only thing about the American Dream that I was misinformed about was that 9 to 5 thing. I haven't worked anywhere that wasn't 7 to 5.
