Was? Sock? Scheißdreck!

I disagree in the sense that the line was obviously crafted with the Christian God in mind. Like the Jews believe and Theodore Roosevelt said, the name of God should not be put on something as common as money. And the Muslims believe the same, I believe. So obviously it doesn't speak for the Jews or Muslims.

While yes, it was created with the Christian God in mind you must remember that he is the almost the Jewish, and Islamic God, small discrepancies over the Holy Trinity situation but it can be interpreted to cover any monotheistic deity.

However, if this motto is creating a genuine problem in the States, then perhaps you should do the democratic thing and vote on it.

NEWSWEEK poll: 91% of American's believe in God.

"A belief in God and an identification with an organized religion are widespread throughout the country, according to the latest NEWSWEEK poll. Nine in 10 (91 percent) of American adults say they believe in God and almost as many (87 percent) say they identify with a specific religion. Christians far outnumber members of any other faith in the country, with 82 percent of the poll’s respondents identifying themselves as such. Another 5 percent say they follow a non-Christian faith, such as Judaism or Islam. Nearly half (48 percent) of the public rejects the scientific theory of evolution; one-third (34 percent) of college graduates say they accept the Biblical account of creation as fact."

Guess it really is a Christian nation for the most part, and one that certainly has no problems with "In God We Trust" or "One nation, under God."

😎 👆

The majority of the respondents who identify as Christians are Roman Catholics, who you would not regard as True Christians™.

Of the 82% of respondents who identify as Christians, fewer than 40% are members of a church—who you would also not regard as True Christians™.
Another note, of those that do believe in a God; a bit over half still believe in evolution.

All I can do at this point in time is to write my Congressman and talk to him about it...and I don't think the current Congress is in the right set of mind to change it back

There have been a lot of schism churches since the Second Vatican Council, I think that's what he's talking about.

Well, seeing as Vatican II actually changed the Catholic position that it was the one true church-meaning others could be true churches in Christ-I would say that emphasises they are more Christian now than ever.

I'm sorry, but there is this documentary on the BBC about a fringe christian group who stalk the funerals of war dead and shout "God hates ****" I'm watching this now and I'm sure you know who they are.Are they true christian? Certainly not!

They are a reason why perhaps America needs to re-consider its image...and motto!
