Spiderman's little problem

Alright, anyone that's been following Spiderman recently knows that he's been upgraded to hell and back recently. This, coupled with his experience, has led to Spidey...well....

OMGWTFBBQPWN'ing some of his rogues gallery.

And by some, I mean most. Even his iconic villains.

This is great, I mean, compare Spiderman's first meetings with these villains to his more recent ones, and you can really see Spiderman's growth.

But, on the other hand, it gets a little boring to see Spiderman plow through the opposition.

So, what do you think? Should Spiderman get new, more powerful villains? Should the old villains get upgrades to keep up? Should Spidey get depowered closer to classic levels? Am I just talking out of my ass?

🙂.

I'd like to see his enemies powered up.
Have some villian decide he's had enough and go around giving help to Spidey's old foes.

Depowering him will just make things worse in a few years when some writer notices what happened and has him "unleash his real power" to take down someone that should have always been well above him.
Making new rogues is tough and they tend to be skewed in power due to a lack of history in comics. Introducing a couple more might not be a bad idea though.

Spidey could use a couple new inductees to his rogues gallery, but his old enemies getting upgraded would be fine by me.

Lots of his old enemies were upgraded as well.
Others are so powerfull that his little upgrade wouldn't make much of a difference.

Agreed. The symbiotes would still be VERY difficult opponents for Spiderman.

But he even WTFPWN'd Brock Venom recently, did he not?

Spiderman should never punk Venom ever.

Anyways yeah some of his Villains are still ridiculously dangerous still. Like the Rhino or Sandman or Green Goblin those three will always be or should always be a problem for Spidey.

Yeah though a few getting upgraded though wouldn't be to bad an idea. I wouldn't mind seeing Shocker get upgraded.

he was. Like every other one of his villains that's been upgraded over the years it was quickly forgotten about as soon as a new writer took over.

I think Morlun is his best villain and i think that the original Morlun arc was awesome but the most recent fight in The Other could have been a lot better. The fight itself was decent and Spidey smashed him with an SUV, but still wasn't the same as the original.

I think it was Gargan, who IMO sucks as Venom.
Eddie Brock is still TOO much for Spider, even after upgrades.

Upgrade for Rhino!

LOL Yeah. Givving him brains would be a nice upgrade.

Doc Ock, Electro, Hydro-Man, Trapster, Mysterio, Scorpion, Vulture, the Goblins and many, many, others have all had various upgrades over the years ... either in weaponry or power.

Agreed. But they haven't had enough, apparently - Spiderman is still stomping on pretty much all of them without trouble more recently. I mean, in their first appearances they gave him hell.

But now, most of the people you named seem like mere nuisances.

He's fought all them since his upgrade? 😑

I knew he fought Mysterio, but the other ones...

It's not that they haven't had enough. It's just that new writers forget about those upgrades as soon as they take over and marvel editors don't bother to correct them when it happens.

Yea he fought Vulture in Friendly, took Ock out with a punch in Sensational. He's been through a few.

Rhino really messed him up in Sensational though. Personally I don't think much of his villians need a power upgrade. Just give them more depth and let them grow from there

Newer villians IMO would show more growth rather than just giving the old ones more power, be a lil' creative Marvel.

But Spider-Man has tons of rogues that can be used that don't have to fade into obsurity. He has a lot of villians that haven't been used since the 80's that can be updated, etc.

Meh. It would be better if a writer just wrote a couple of the villains' to their potential. Venom, Sand/Hydro Man, Green Goblin, etc.

PS: Did anybody else think Soljer was talking about something different when they read the thread title?
