Is it just me or did anyone else want to punch HHH in the face when he started mocking Cena's persona?
Much as i gripe about John, i respect him. HHH legit comes across as a spiteful person who has a forum to air his opinions in a "this is just an act its not REALLY how i feel" way on other wresters.
As much as he's accomplished i believe he has a huge inferiority complex.
I'm not that shallow. 😉
I've been a Cena fan since he was the Prototype. I admire his work ethic and his physique, his raw boned style and his mic skills when he chooses to use them.
Back in the day his rebellious style was awesome.
Now he's the great American hero.
I have issues with him, wish he'd do things different, but he's an all around good wrestler.
WWE's booking is beyond idiotic at this point.
Cena gains nothing by getting the titles. The only way it made sense was to actually pull off the tease from RAW and have Ambrose cash in immediately.
Reigns should've won and give the audience the validation of their support. Reigns holds the belt until Summerslam and Brock comes in and beats him.
Ziggler should be the rebel that HBK was and giving the Authority fits while still winning. The losses make no sense at this point.

I have in no way shape or form been a John Cena fan. I did like his gimmick of The Doctor of Thugganomics, and that was it. When he became the chain gang soldier,I did not care for him, and now that he is the superhero never give up Cenation leader, I just can't f@@king stand him.
I remember when Punk said,Cena is afforded title shot after title shot and he was spot on. Remember when he was out from that elbow injury?and when he came back,he was given a shot at the title against Del Rio and won. Though for me the ultimate stain, was when Rey Mysterio won the title on Raw and lost it the same night to the Superhero.
My beef is not what he does entirely in the ring, rather how he is being shoved so hard down everyone's throats. Not to mention the fact that every fued he is in kills the persons momentum horribly. Nexus,Ryback,Sandow(that was horrible) and now Bray Wyatt. All these guys were on there way up, but after there battles with Cena, they have been doing sh!t..well I believe there can still be hope for Wyatt.
Its funny when Cena is mentioned as the underdog, it feels like his opponent is the underdog with WWE and its predictability.
I can see all your points, and even agree with them to a extent.
But Cena's not autonomous. He cant do what he wants.
If he could, he'd be flaming the heck out of opponents.
The man makes money for WWE.
Aside from women, his biggest demographic is kids.
He's a Make A Wish staple.
He's on cereal boxes.
The odds of WWE letting him flame like he used to before programming was hamstrung by Ms. Jackson at the Superbowl are pretty slim.
Having him KO people with a chain? Slim.
God forbid, turning heel, or even tweener? Slim and slim.
Like mist of us, the man has a job and a boss and he has to do as he's told.
I'm pretty sure he'd like to do different things, but thats the price of success.
What worked for Stone Cold's not going to fly nowadays.
I try and keep all this in mind when thinking about Cena the character and Cena the man...

What do you mean by Psychology?
His promos, when he tries, can be as good as anyone. Except people like the Bray Wyatt's and Dean Ambrose's, people like these 2 are in a different league.
I like him cause of his Thug gimmick and 2005-2007 style. Yes he got stale. But i ain't gonna be some hypocrite and suddenly boo the man.
Do i think his boring at times? yes, but it's all in your taste.
Do i think his matches are repetitive? yes, but we all know he can put on a show if needed. (John Cena vs CM Punk, John Cena vs The Rock, John Cena vs Daniel Bryan etc)
Do i think he sometimes botch moves like the leg drop, when he tries to be creative? yes, but his clearly getting better. (surprisingly, since he is in his prime in both age and career wise)
Do i think he buries people? no! blame creative and before you mention Y2J and Edge podcast about the nexus fued, Cena already admitted he was wrong. No excuses, but it's just a case of bad booking in his part.
Is he the greatest WWE Champion of all time? Debatable, but i also think no. But is he one of the greats? Yes and nothing is gonna change that.
Simply put. I tolerate him at his worst and i still am a big fan through and through. I defend him when his defendable, and i don't when he can't and shit on him if needed.

Dean Ambrose has been money since the Shield split-up. Best in the company.

Besides, Cena/Lesnar at Extreme Rules a few years back was an amazing match.

I agree with you especially on the make a wish foundation. I am not sure, but I think Cena is the top celeb in the make a wish and the WWE is afraid if he goes heel, that might hurt things for them, as well as all the other kids being hurt. It's really a no win situation.
I stated before and I will state again I have no problem with John Cena the human being...I actually like him. It's the John Cena superman character that I hate and I do agree with your last line.

I was worried about what would be done with Ambrose after the Shield breakup, but now I like his position. I enjoyed the TNT promo he gave to Seth telling him he will be there when he tries to cash in the briefcase, and it will blow up in his face LOL.
The extreme rules with Cena and Lesnar was a good match, it's just that I feel Cena should not have gone over.

Have to disagree with you there, at least on a point.
Cena is not a great technician, but he is ****ing amazing at psychology. He knows exactly how to tell a story in the ring, and he's better than almost anyone at working the crowd.
and he has the thickest skin of any wrestler I've ever seen.
That said, Cena does have his issues.
His character is somewhat stale. Not as stale as some say, but still stale. It doesn't help that they've made him invincible while trying to make people see him as the underdog.
The Rock against DX was the underdog.
Austin against the Corportation was the underdog.
Cena hasn't been the underdog in years.
My last point about Cena: Making him the champ was a mistake, imo. I know some will say that he's the right person to have it, so when they put the belts on Brock, it won't hurt him. My question is, why are they putting the belts on Brock in the first place? He doesn't need them, and if Cena beats the guy who beat the Undertaker, holy **** people will lose their shit.

Have to say I feel mighty vindicated when it comes to Ambrose. I've been saying for so long that he was the ****ing man, and he's proved that beyond my wildest dreams. Amazing awareness for a wrestler (look at how he saved Barret), and his promos are gold.
Emma gets fired and hired in one day. lol.
Miz is back. yay.
Jericho is back. Also yay, but shit, I hope he's there to do more than put over the Wyatts.
AJ is back. Awesome, though looking a bit skinny.
I don't hate Reigns, but I feel like they're pushing him way too hard, way too soon.
Sandow's "random character" gimmick is finally starting to look like something that will grow and develop. Not in to new characters, but this whole "jobber stable" idea that's been floating around for a while? I can see it happening now. And that was an amazing Vince impression on Raw. Sandow continues to convince me that he's arguably the best mic guy in the company.
Ziggler... Came so ****ing close on sunday. I actually believed for a minute that he could do it. Dammit WWE. At least he gets Summer Rae now. That means more TV time, and he could help Fandango get taken more seriously.
I really hope Bryan isn't gone too long.
last thing: ****ing STARDUST.
GREATEST. GIMMICK. EVER.
Cody threw himself in to it 100%, and he is the modern Goldust in every way that matters. And kudos to the guy for actually switching up his moveset to actually make it seem like a shift. I honestly believe that in 5 years, Cody will be where Randy Orton is now. One of the top, most respected guys in the company, with none of the bad karma.
My psychology assessment is based on him consistently no selling, smiling during promos when he is in a serious situation, and generally making jokes that bury the guy he is supposed to be facing...
I honestly hope your joking about Cena carry a match with his story telling abilities or lack there of. Cena only knows one story and that is the Rey Mysterio style underdog comeback but its irrational to expect people to view him as an underdog when that guy goes years without losing clean.
