Except that there are matches, a good number actually, where Cena offers almost no offense after the first two minutes, then busts out a FNS, then after a quick exchange pops out an AA. Match over, and Cena is the winner even though he's spent the majority of the match as the punching bag. He's better than that, and it needs to stop.

Michaels, Bryan, Hart, Orton, Punk, Rock, Austin etc, all spend their matches with far more back and forth on average than Cena does.

There hasn't been a face that was that ridiculous since Hogan.

The worst part is, Cena isn't a bad wrestler. His moveset is actually decent, but they limit it intentionally, whether it's Vince or Kevin Dunn telling him not to do those moves. Remember that suplex-neckbreaker he started doing last year? Has he done that recently?

That said, Reigns is just as ****ing bad, but that's more down to having an actual smaller moveset.

I agree with this. When Hogan had a match, at least he went back and fourth with his opponent. Cena's matches result in him getting thrashed most of the match, then toward the end, he's Mr invincible.

Hmmm.

Brett Hart, Shawn Michaels, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, CM Punk...all have 5-6 moves of doom....i could keep going.
Most every wrestler in the last 20 years do.

I'm reminded of something my spouse saw on her Facebook:

Its cool that you dont like the guy. Just say so!

Bret had tons of moves...
Shawn has a fairly wide range.
... i could break down any of them if you wish.

Reigns has 2 spot moves and 2 wresting moves. Thats horrible for a guy being groomed to be a top guy.

Btw 5MoD =/= Full moveset.
everyone has a few big signature moves but Reigns & Cena only ever use these few moves and in Cena's case botches everything else.

The Hurricena is the one that comes to mind, Harper put him to shame.

Not interested in following this up. Already been in one long winded pissing match today. Agree to disagree.

Smackdown was okay. Sheamus had a good match. AJ is still a nimble little minx. Swagger got a nice pop. Ambrose had a good match, and Reigns looked strong throughout. Rollins is playing the heel really well...

Its cool.

If you want to watch a good pre wwe Daniel Bryan match, watch Kenta vs Brian Danielson

Might do that.

Also, i hadnt thought of Kim Cornette in ages. That guy equals awesome!

Yeah, not specificly you but alot of people who only watch mainstream wrestling think Bryan is limited when in all reality he is incredibly well rounded.

Oh he is, he was doing his thing long before WWE.
They seem to tailor people's move sets, though. Safety issue is what i've read.

Wouldnt want anyone to miss time with neck surgery...🙄

They tailor them so fans can know the moves names, other companies dont really rename signature moves.

Hence the sharp shooter, cobra clutch, brogue kick...SPINEROONY!!!

Wow, you hit the nail right on the head. I remember Austin mention that a lot of wrestlers watch the card before their respective matches to see how they could deviate from the previous matches. If the heel in the match before yours was working the ankle, then you try and work your opponent's back or leg in your match.

I also agree about Cena not being the underdog and the lolzworthy attempts of the wwe to paint him as such sometimes. Like last years Summerslam, did he really need to announce before his match with DB about his injury? Sure he lost clean, but for the casuals, DB's win was tainted imo.

Please explain.

In entertainment being safe has rarely produced anything of greatness,

In wrestling this fact is especially true.

Well we all should know that WWE is losing its ratings and money. So it's simple, give the belt to Cena, who appeals to ''other'' type audience, and it will be 2009-2010 again where Cena paints all over the main event scene, does most of the money making, bring some ratings in and be the face of the face...of the face and of the face...of WWE.

The Cena era has lower ratings than the Micheal's era which was the rise of WCW.

Okay...not really the point.

I've forgotten the point.
I think we're all just randomly talking till the next Raw...😛

it's not losing money because Cena wasn't champion, though. Sure, he has a new shirt out and the kids will pester mommy and daddy to buy the new merch, but I really don't see why they couldn't have given him more exposure without giving him the belts.

plenty of wrestlers sell merch without being the champ.

Miz Vs Jericho. Can't wait, even if ****ing Wyatt will no doubt interfere.

Am sad...

You are SO reading my mind with Miz/Jericho!!!

Thats too bad about Santino...

Something neat i saw mentioned on bleacher report.

Currently in WWE, Swagger and Kingston were the longest running guys never to go from heel to face, face to heel, till Swagger broke the cycle two weeks ago.

I know Ricky the Dragon was never a heel in his career. I wonder if Kingston will do the same.

Kingston would need an actual character before he could change it, tbh.

Speaking of Swagger, I have to admit, I am loving the angle with Rusev. Swagger has his issues as a wrestler, but when he's up against a guy as big and as tough as he is, he can put on some amazing matches. I'm hoping that this Rusev feud is finally the making of the guy.

Thats what the BR article hoped about Swagger, too. I wish him luck. He's a talented guy.
