Top Ten Most Powerful

We already knew a crap ton about Vitiate from the books he was in.

That was extended beta isnt it not?

No. That was the full product, and as of now it's had several patches introducing new content, even Legacy Mode which allows any race to be any class, and you can have things like a Pure Blood Sith Bounty Hunter with Force Lightning.

vitiate is the most powerful because he is the only one to beat revan...revan was considered the best of his time until vitiate entered the scenery!
the sith after revan would have to be galen marek because he beat both palpatine and vader at the same time

Galen turned his body into a force bomb and Palpatine casually shrugged it off, he's an overpowered punk at best.

He didn't casually shrug off anything. Read the novel's version of the events. Sidious did scream and won after Galen put his defenses down to save the rebels.

The Emperor screams not from Marek's explosion, but from the deflected bolts of his own lightning. Either way, it conflicts with the cutscene's depiction of events, in which no scream is audible (other than Marek's own).

I'm not sure which is higher on the canon totem pole.

^ The novel was from Galen's perspective so perhaps only he heard the Emporer scream.

Either way it's clearly not something The Emporer just shrugged off with ease.

Edit: Oh and the explosion comes after Marek puts his defenses down to save the rebels.

My top ten:

1.Luke
2.Sidious
3.Yoda
4.Vitiate
5.Nihilus
6.Marek
7.Bane
8.Exar Kun
9.Revan
10.Caedus

*honorable mentions: Plagueis, Vader, Dooku, Mace, Kyp, Krayt...

The Force Wielders/Ones/Anchorites & Abeloth deserve the top spot.

1. Father (was conduit for Son's and Daughter's powers )
2. Abeloth (Required combined effort of Son and Daughter to be defeated)
3. Son 4. Daughter (Beings of the Force)
5. Sidious 6. Vitiate (Hard to evaluate who was more powerful)
7. Irek Ismaren(I know, he was boring and brainless. Yet, artificially imbued his power possibly surpassed even Sidious)
8. Exar Kun (Could be on level with Sidious and Vitiate but too few information to make adequate comparison, yet, he was very same abomination)
9. Nihilus (Could be even above Sidious and Vitiate but was too dumb to use his power effectively and it was burning out too quickly)
10. Darth Zannah (Demonstrated far greater Force use during fight with Bain. Also, when Bain attempted to take over her body, her spirit proved to be stronger)

A more accurate definition of power should be provided in order to make the lists themselves more accurate. Luke is a great example of someone who would probably top the list in some respects and not feature in others.

Agree. In terms of potential Anakin and Luke are on top. In terms of strongest Luke is, also, on top. But in terms of power top list shouldn't really go to Jedi at all as it is Sith that constantly test their limits and abuse the Force, hence increasing their power more, than any Jedi would. On top of that Sith use anger, which is very strong emotion giving greater power, while Jedi on opposite put effort into controlling their emotions, which often makes them weaker, if they fail to keep themselves calm. Moreover, Sith gain a lot of power from outside: feed on fear, anger and suffering of others, drain life and Force energy, perform dark rituals, use talismans, e.g.
Jedi do miracles, while Sith demonstrate the most incredible, enormous and disastrous feats.

Agreed, more or less.

I'm surprised Anakin is nowhere to be seen in anyone's top ten (not even worth an honorable mention) even though he successfully controlled the Son and the Daughter..

And also completely tooled one of the most powerful Jedi/Sith of all time- Count Dooku (according to the ROTS novel).

Of course I understand they were just mere moments when Anakin achieved such heights of power. And he is on an average day not able to do anything close.

But even going by consistent showings he's pretty much stalemating Count Dooku on a regular basis in the CW series. Actually seems to be More Powerful in Sabers.

I agree with Herbert that Power is a vague term, and depending on the exact definition in mind the lists would vary.

This is more of a list.

1. Revan
2. Bane
3. Luke
4. Nihilus
5. Pain
6. Vader
7. Yoda
8. Exar Kun
9. Malak
10. Sidious

Yeah, I’ve reconsidered my top 10.

1. The Father
2. Abeloth
3. The Son / The Daughter
4. Luke
5. Sidious
6. Yoda
7. Nihilus
8. Marek
9. Plagueis
10. Vader*

* Exar Kun, Bane, Vitiate, ???

We should prolly hammer out a working definition of 'power.' Does it refer to capacity for widespread destruction (e.g. Nihilus)? Does it refer to martial prowess (e.g. Bane)? Mastery of esoteric techniques (e.g. Plagueis/Vitiate)? Raw, destructive potency (e.g. Marek)?

Power is far too vague. Everybody and their mother is Strong in the Force (Especially Coleman Trebor)

However, we also have to consider the individual characters going on a massive destructive rampage at the height of their potential. In all cases, Anakin and Luke would take it, undoubtedly. However, after those spots, its much more open to others.

Anakin and Luke haven't demonstrated the capability to destroy entire worlds. They are good in combat though; Luke much more so.

Sidious, Vitiate and Nihilus possessed such command of the dark side that these guys could destroy entire worlds with adequate preparation. Vitiate, in particular, reached a point after a span of around 1300 years of delving in to Sith Lore that he was in the position to make necessary arrangements with which he could destroy entire Galaxy and transform himself in to an omnipotent being. This is insane.

Some members have a point here; power can be defined in many ways.

In addition, their are so many powerful characters in the mythos now that it is hard to rank them. Most of the lists in this thread are absurd by the way, as per latest canonical revelations.

Furthermore, effectiveness in combat varies from character to character regardless of power; depending upon the talents of the character or how the character shaped himself/herself. As an example: Exar Kun WTFpwned Luke whereas Sidious didn't.

Also, sometimes the Force itself influences events if we are to believe that the Force have its own will. As an example: Vitiate have singlehandedly purged entire Dark Councils and subdued entire strike teams but lost to a lone Jedi Knight once. I believe that the Force favours Luke. I don't think that Luke is more powerful then lets say Sidious, Vitiate and Nihilus but he is a very potent fighter and somehow manages to get through all kinds of challenges.
