Spiderman can be writtento some to be at least universal with HOTU or to others to be multiversal with HOTU. Who are you to say that it is out of continuity to be given the HOTU.
Given that I am using the HOTU as an example a writer can come up with some other power source of universal, multiversal, or omniversal power.
