NB Current Shadowcat afaik still has a natural state of being intangible. Ever since Doom cured her way back when. She was knocked out by Lady Deathstrike circa 2002-3, and while unconscious was phased into solid objects.

Kitty's phasing powers beat Thor when she melted him into the ground.

He Mjolnired his way out... but without the hammer he would have been pretty screwed. Even moreso if she had phased more than just his legs and lower torso.

It took a skyfather level weapon to have any chance against her, and only then because she didn't try to kill him, just subdue him.

and, is it 100% clear that kitty phases by decreasing her density? i'd just assumed it was simply a 'power', and not an ability to decrease her mass like vision. i mean kitty doesn't have intermediary states of intangibility, does she? 😕

both that battles had me scratching my head in terms of who could do what. 😬

Simply because I'm bored and I want to speak about the intangibility thing.

I thought there was in order where everyone's pick had to go through before it was cleared.

First we had to know if the character is over Ironman level as a whole which obviously Kitty isn't.

Second I thought once we changed the pick over to the category that they are in their category couldn't be over the Caps or any of the rulings without help of the other picks.

I thought this is why Cable got banned because overall he was ok but once you place him in category he becomes over one of the limits.

I would think that Kitty in a perma-phased state without the ability to solidify is over the killability limit. I think she would be much more unkillable than the likes of Hydroman or Sandman because you can at least touch them.

I also thought the main reason that phasing was even allowed in was because phasers could still become solid which Kitty obviously can not as the body pick.

oh, and the only real problem i have with the kitty thing is that part of the meshing . . . conundrum was to sort through characters that do NOT screw with each other's abilities. choosing kitty and a tech guy is a pretty clear error based on what i thought the idea behind the tourney was. part of the fun was getting people whose abilities did NOT conflict, as mm's clearly do. to say her powers don't affect her OWN tech but affect the opponent's tech seems . . . odd to me. 😬

It actually makes some kind of sense.....but Its not my place to point out why or how

She's not permanently phased, it's just her default state. She can consciously become material with little effort. However for example if she were to lose concentration as Colossus made her do vin or when she's knocked out she becomes immaterial. I don't think they ever explained how exactly she sleeps. 😕

Therefore she stays in a Perma-Phased state.
