Anyway, quick question - offensive matter manip is banend against the opposing character (I think) but can you still manip their equipment?

This one is dicey. Goob said things like powered armor are considered part of a character and can't be manipulated directly, but some equipment is probably affectable.

This is of course, assuming matter manip isn't banned out right. 🙄

I would disagree, a gun or suit of armour is not part of a character.

yeah, i'm sorta with tp -- it's a dicey one. i'm not sure it should be legal for someone to touch IM's armor and turn it to water . . .

😬

I would think that as long as the person inside the armour isn't directly harmed, things likethat should be ok.

hmm, that's a big ruling. any matter transmutor could essentially one-hit-ktfo a couple people in this thing.

not sure that's exactly what goob was going for . . . 😬

I say matter manip just be banned. All forms. Its too damn confusing for an Ironman level tournament

Well it wouldn't be a KO.

What about teleporting? we can't BFR people but could someone have their tech removed via a teleport? (not sure that anyone in the tourney can actually do that, but it's still worth knowing)

i'd say that would fall under the same rule as above. imo it would NOT be all right to do that.

i'm with bw -- banning matter manip at this level might be the best thing. 😬

or limit to strictly the environment.

Someone can. Blink.

And I think banning it outright is probably the best idea. otherwise you're fighting firestorm lite. And anyone who reads his comics knows, he who knows his science and physics, can seriously **** someone up.

Well, personally, as a judge, I feel if matter manipulation is allowed it should be allowed on the battlefield and manipulators person only. You shouldn't be able to simply turn your opponents gun into a banana. Even in indirect application matter manipulation is pretty formidable to a adept tactician.

As for teleportation, I you could teleport objects at your opponent, teleport handheld objects out of your opponents grasp, and teleport yourself. Teleporting your opponent or teleporting your opponents armor off would be illegal.

Note though I'm not the final say, just a judge. Goob and Digi would need to confer.

Banning it for Metahuman level characters was actually my idea...

Teleporting the opponent is ok as long as it isn't off the battlefield.

I'm not suggesting we allowTPing of limbs, but armour is another matter entirely, it should be treated the same as a gun or sword as removing it wouldn't actually harm the person inside.

still pretty cheap, and again, not (i don't think) what goob was going for . . .

Telepathy is just as cheap and that seems to be allowed.

thing is scoob, tp can be blocked or countered with another tp. tp's are a dime a dozen, even at this level. everyone knew going in tp could take you out so prep for it or take your chances. that was part of the deal. no way around a matter manipulator. a nd there are precious few at this level.

Telepathy is somewhat neutered. You can attack with psi-bolts and illusion casting but you can't mind control (though illusion casting is a fringe level of mind control in itself; making someone see something that isn't there against there will). I'm not a fan of allowing telepathy personally. Particularly at this level. At least at herald level just about every viable draftee has defenses for TP.

If you can teleport your opponent's person what's to stop you from simply putting them in a perpetual teleportation loop so they can't do anything offensively? I don't think that should be allowed. It's a loophole attack.

*edit

Matter manipulation was banned by Goob.

Agree (if it's allowed...since I'd be all for banning it entirely, but I defer to goob)

altogether or just on opponents?

Altogether.

I have to agree with Scoobs I don't see equipment as being part of the character I also don't see the bad thing about teleporting other people around the battlefield. It doesn't equate for a win because even if you teleport them somewhere you still have to face them eventually.

I'm glad Matter Manip was banned though

It's Goobs call, but be careful what you wish for.
