I'm sorry, but you say I was hyping him more than LeBron when you say:"This is all you need to know, 6'9 small forward that can
shoot like Kobe, drive like Tmac, finish like Kobe, block like Josh Smith, dunk like Carter, all the makings of being a superstar in the league."That IS overhyping as teampac said. You didn't even say potential. Your criticism was very small considering the comparisons you made at the start of that post.
Anyway, the hype around Oden is the fact that there is a lack of big men these days. Dwight Howard is just about the only guy that will physically match with him in the league. Ten years ago, Oden would have just been another good big man that would have been mentioned following Shaq, Ewing, Robinson, and Olajuwon. But these days, there are not centers in the league such as them so Oden is likely to thrive. You (initially at least) made it sound like nobody will be able to stop Durant even though he plays one of the most prominent posititions in the current NBA.
Like I said before, that isn't over hyping, what is hard about that to understand? And I don't like using the term "potential" and if I had used it in this situation it wouldn't have made sense. I am not saying he has the potential to be like these players nor am I saying he is playing on the level of these players. I said he plays like them as in their games are very similar. Is this so hard to understand? If I said J.J. Reddick shot like Peja in college would you call that over hyping? Once again, neither is over hyping.
I never said or made it sound like nobody could stop Durant. Which if I did would have been the truth anyway because no one did stop him in college. I don't think we are on the same page here, I am not talking potential and I am not talking the future when I say he shoots like Kobe and dunks like Carter, he actually did that in college.

Yeah, and I'm goin to stop arguing with someone who doesnt understand the term overhyping. You gave him capabilities or in your own words "components". You're not drawing a super hero but you are drawing the perfect basketball player with all these "components". Myth is right, you never even used the word potential. Rather, you directly gave Durant all these superstar capabilities.
I didn't give Durant any capabilities, he did that all by himself. From your post it would seem like you have never watched him play, which if true then I wouldn't be surprised because you sound like you know nothing. And I am not talking potential, you should try reading over someones post twice before hitting the quote button and sounding ridiculous. This is the third time I am saying this and you have yet to comprehend it, I was critiquing his season in college. Say I am over hyping again then I would have no choice but to start calling you stupid.

Go ahead call me stupid, I'm not the only one here who thinks you're the idiot. As long as he hasnt proved himself in the league yet then he's only speculation and potential, not proven capability.

The hell am I speculating about? I am not talking about him in the NBA, I'm talking about his season in college. God I just want to stand in front of you and yell this in your face until you say "ooooooooooooh dats what you were trying to sayyyyyyy".
I think he is just hung up on your like kobe, tmac, carter reference. I get your point.
I think most people would agree as far as their college careers went Durant > Oden
But also a lot of people believe in Oden to have an overall higher ceiling for success. But of course you never know.
Theres really no new discussion going on here it just seems people are getting upset with each other which is no good, so if there are no new points should let this one die.

Here let me explain everything one last time. First, no one here is arguing that Oden had a better college career. It's obvious that Durant was better. Being better in college, however, does not translate to being better in the nba. Durant has far more competition in the nba. There's so many good perimeter players in the league, that's why it goin to be harder for Durant to distinguish himself from other great perimeter players. The center position does not have much talent right now. Shaq is on his downhill. Yao Ming and Howard are two centers we know will only get better. The rest, though, we dont know if they'll be as good. That's why it would be wiser to build around Oden. Compared to good centers, perimeter players are a dime a dozen.
Second, we all know that Durant was a great college player. Giving him Kobe's shot, Carter's dunk, TMac's driving abilities, and Josh's blocking, however, is overhyping. Even if you meant in college. Never did I argue that Durant was good, so stop telling me to watch Durant clips. You must be some Longhorn or Durant homer, because as good as he is he's not as good as you're claiming him to be.
Nope not a Texas fan nor will I ever be, that is an insult(avatar). And how good do I claim him to be? As good as Kobe Carter and Tmac? Is that what I said? I guess I fooled myself, this whole time I was saying he was the best player in the world, yep you got me. Your common sense is obviously non existent. So Ima tell you what I am going to do, I'm going to just say "you are right" and end this.
I think LE is trying to say that, based on the way Durant played in College, he shot like Kobe shoots in the NBA, he drove to the basket and finished like T-mac does in the NBA, and he dunked like Carter did in the NBA. He definitely did do all that in College. That's how dominant he was. Overhyping Durant would be saying he will do all those same things just as easily in the NBA.

I read that Durant will announce that he is entering the draft in a press conference mid-week. YAY!
He should stay. F*ck the NBA. NCAA ball is where it's at.
