I think the argument that telekinesis is not as tangible as lightning when not used as a blast or shield is as valid as any. Without an equal or greater psionic force to counter it, i don't see why a telekinetic can't think you dead. When Jean uses tk to manipulate bodily functions the target does not feel her reaching into their bodies, she thinks and it happens. Storm herself knows that Jeans psionic raptor can break through any psi defence natural or artificial, her words not mine (uncanny xmen 383) "When the Phoenix-raptor manifests itself, it represents Jean’s telepathic abilities, honed to their sharpest edge. She says no shields – natural or artificial – can withstand the assault, and I believe her. When she strikes, it is like the mind of her target is being torn by real claws. A shock for her, physical as well as psychic. Devastating for her adversary." Storm has on many occasions felt a mixture of fear and awe at the power Jean wields.

Your a fan of Wiki look up tk there is viable scientific study of it. Its a matter of being a skeptic or not. And there is definitely scientific study of tk and psionics in the marvel universe , tk can block lightning and any other form of matter and energy the way they understand it there.

TK scientific explanation is based on Psions, subatomic particles which interact with the environment including the 4 types of fundemental force. Psions like domains in magnetism are unlimited in potential numbers and threrefore effect.
