Signals can be bounced off of things other than satellites. Have you ever seen a satellite in person? What's your basis for discarding one set of arbitrary beliefs for another?

so you expect to believe that the world is just one giant studio like in the movie with jim carrey? forgot the name of it.
I'm just wondering why people have this overbearing need to rationalize their beliefs as making sense while ignoring other things with equally little basis. You've chosen scientists and the media as people who are an absolute font of truth yet you seem quite willing to deride devoutly religious people as irrational simply because they choose a different group of people to listen to. To me it doesn't make sense. I believe things simply because they're what I choose to believe, everyone else seems to need these idiotic fantasies of rationality just to get up in the morning.

While I agree with you in the simpler form, there is a difference here. I've never seen the Earth make a complete orbit around the Sun, no one has witnessed this. Do I believe the Earth rotates around the Sun though? Yes, because the data that supports this is logical and the methods used can be applied elsewhere.
I don't believe there is a Heaven or Hell, i.e. a places we go after we die that is either an ultimate reward or an ultimate punishment. Why? Because there is absolutely no sound reason or logic to support these superstitions. They seem like a made-up story to keep people in check; that's more logical.

i have no problem letting ppl believe in faith and the christ message and other similar believe.....
i have a problem when same ppl say you are going to hell if you dont believe or withhold aid to others in other countries because they wont convert... or push missionaries into other cultures. i may be a bit bias seeing as that religion destroyed my culture and is hard for me to find history of my ppl...
but at least i was raised with the catholic believe and later found it to be historically inaccurrate. as a child every time i asked a question that was controversial i was hit.they were innocent comments at age 7. i actually made it a point to study theology and religion and what i found was very different then what the churches teach and what ppl claim to believe... it would be simple if ppl simply had faith of their believes but it is not enough.. many feel the need to push their believe and inacurracies to others who happen to actually know said believes and maybe more so... this thread and the OP is a perfect example of what i am saying look at some of the false statements that have bn made by him that happens to be historically and scientifically in accurate.
comparing satellites and ancient stories are not the same. i know how a GPS works in the middle of a flat desert i know there is no hills or mountains to bounce a signal to my location. that i require a satellite to help me find my location. saying that the firmament is there would negate my ability to find my location. also pearing in a telescope and has also shown that i can also see into space with floating artificial satellites..
