Cats dislike dogs in most cases. Some just don't care. But all a pup wants to do is play and mess around.
well, maybe the op is noticing a general rule about cats....someone said that cats don't like attention, that's a good observation.
cats are like a lot of females, sorry if i'm harping on us females, but we do need to be honest about our ways...
cats tend to dislike attention, but will desire it when you aren't giving it to them, when you are too eager to give them attention, they dislike you, when you ignore them, they will desire u to pet them (that;s when they need ur affection...when they need something (like to distract you if they find you are too engrossed in something, like enjoying something else more then their presence, they tend to want to be around you more often or even rub on you just b/c u aren't fixed by their presence)...
i should say that social animals, like cats and dogs, pick up on our psyche, so if a cat or dog doesn't like you, more then likely, it's the owner's thoughts, but other-times, it's your own thoughts that are unpleasant and causing the pet to feel uncomfortable.
cats and dogs get their "ques" from their owners, if the owner is playful or friendly, the cat and dog will more often feed on it, if the owner thinks negative of you (for whatever reason that you are thinking or doing at the time), the dog or cat may become very distant, just observe how the pets act around the owner, and you'll see that if the owner is happy, the pet is happy with you, if the owner is upset, the dog or cat may not come around (unless they don't like the owner, and if that happens, the owner may eventually give the pet away).
