Well, yeah, the cat isn't going to like the dog. The cat sees the puppy as something encroaching on its territory and isn't happy about it. You need to give them time to learn to get along.

My puppy rushes at my cats, mouth open and everything. They really don't like him.

cats and dogs get their "ques" from their owners, if the owner is playful or friendly, the cat and dog will more often feed on it, if the owner thinks negative of you (for whatever reason that you are thinking or doing at the time), the dog or cat may become very distant, just observe how the pets act around the owner, and you'll see that if the owner is happy, the pet is happy with you, if the owner is upset, the dog or cat may not come around (unless they don't like the owner, and if that happens, the owner may eventually give the pet away).
