Turns out Winged Dragon of Ra will also be released as an effect monster with an updated look and a new artwork, just as Obelisk the Tormentor was.

Doesn't look half-bad, it certainly looks is a better artwork than the original. Still looks more like a friggin' bird than a Dragon. C'mon Takahashi.

This card cannot be Special Summoned. You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps and other Effect Monsters' effects cannot be activated. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can pay Life Points until you have 100 left to have this card gain ATK and DEF equal to the amount paid. You can pay 1000 Life Points to destroy 1 monster your opponent controls..

The effect is total shit. They nerfed it even more than Obelisk.

Definitely agreed... Nice. 👆

But the effect (regarding what Kandy said) is equally uncool. They nerfed him ridiculously... Now Ra's probably the least useful of the Egyptian Gods. 😂

I can only see one use for Ra... a deck based around self-destruct button.

Just can't wait to see how much they mess with Slifer. Seems kinda dumb with cards like Maju Garzette not to keep Ra's atk stacking though.

So it doesn't get the ATK/DEF of the monsters you tributed to summon it? Lame.

Nope gotta pay life points for it to have any attack. Which is very, very lame. Though I guess that is like the Phoenix Mode isn't it?

Except this doesn't have phoenix mode, since it can't come from the grave.

Yea, that part sucks. It should've kept it's original effect, and the phoenix mode effect. Not just the phoenix mode effect. Or at the very least the original effect.

The worst they could do with Slifer is not have his 2nd mouth effect or put a certain limit on how much stronger he becomes with the # of cards you have in your hand, but even that wouldn't be as bad as the nerfing Ra got here.

i challannge anyone in new york to mess with my light deck no banned card play

2nd mouth should go, that ability is overpowered, even by the standards of the E.Gods. So long as it doesn't work against special summons or if it only reduces one monster's ATK/DEF once when Slifer is summoned ALA Monarch effect, it'll be fine with me (as long as it retains the # cards in hand X 1000 ATK/DEF formula).

Ra could have been so much better, he could have even been indestructible in battle, but instead we got effects which are as of now, not very good.

That's another thing I was pissed off at. At least Obelisk can be summoned from the Graveyard.

that effect isn't worth it imo.

only if you have a decent HP-up deck i guess

There's no "decent HP-up deck". They're all terrible.
