Well at least she didn't abort it. But yes parents need to take an active and responsible role in their kids upbringing. Where was social services during all this?
It is not only there parents, but the enviroment around them as well. I believe that parents are the main part of a child but there are other things causing these type of problems. but if you are going to force your child to fight, your only succeeding in traumatizing him or even having him to grow up to be violent. I find it dolt.

As do I, the problem is when the kids are that young and vulnerable, they aren't even in school yet so no one would notice.
I agree completely, in one case in high school, a student entered into the classroom on the first day and said "I'm here to have fun and get a social life." So I responded with your argument that he should be thankful he even has the chance to get this education and how rude of a statement that was and the class agreed with me.

You do have a point... The [failed] reasoning the women gave was "to toughen up their kids", seems they failed miserably as those items wielded by a toddler will do minimal damage, if any at all. The Spartans would have laughed at the weakness and frailty of it.
