And we begged him to stay on topic. But I guess that is asking for too much from him, for such an easy thing to do. Or at least stay away from the thread.

You do have a point... The [failed] reasoning the women gave was "to toughen up their kids", seems they failed miserably as those items wielded by a toddler will do minimal damage, if any at all. The Spartans would have laughed at the weakness and frailty of it.

yes, its a sad waste in that there is no fighting skill learned

Then please stick to the topic.

Exactly, that's the other tragedy here... Not only did these kids suffer in some degree from this abuse, but they suffered for nothing.

plus, did they roll up the magazines? i would hope so or thats an unfair advantage for the brush team

Suffered for nothing? Your suggesting there could EVER be a good reason for this to happen?

Doesn't really matter, it's still comes down to how much force a toddler can exert, I highly doubt either would hurt/cause damage. The saying comes to mind... "No pain, no gain", not that these kids had to go through this to gain something, it's just another tragedy (maybe greater?) that they did go through this suffering and have no reward or accomplishment to show for it.

what about if they used kendo sticks?

Now, now, not so fast, if done correctly they might become quite decent fighters.

Learning how to properly wield a weapon would be some measure of accomplishment... At least they could say "Yes, I was abused, but at least I took something for myself out of the ordeal".

Still though, I kind of think that these kids not gaining anything for themselves from the ordeal is yet another form of "child abuse"?

Exactly, like the Spartans. Not saying that child abuse isn't wrong (which it definately is as fact), but if you gain something e.g. the ability to kick ass in return, at least you made something out of a horrible situation.

Like Batman... he suffered in his childhood, but he turned that suffering around into solid unshakable motivation. (I'm certain there are real life examples, I just don't know any personally)

Wow, you can mock the suffering of children. You do realize your only strengthening my argument by doing it?

lol ad hominem again. stick to the topic

I was sticking to the topic.

no, you were accusing people of mockery when you post whatever you feel is relevant. there can, should, and always will be multiple conversations within a thread. you know, you dont have to respond to a particular member, if all you can do it debate at the man and strawman bash over and over.

could be a form of mental conditioning though. i still think it would be funnier if they were weilding staplers. the comedy factor would be considerable imho

There's that slope again though... where exactly do you draw the line at when "mental conditioning" ends and "child abuse" begins? We can all knee-jerk here and say it was child abuse, because it definitely appears to be from every point of view as these kids didn't learn/gain anything. If these kids showed the ability to defend themselves better and be more stoic in the face of pain, would people still be yelling "abuse" though?

Yes.

Yes of course, are you sick? These were 3 year olds. What happened should never be allowed under ANY circumstances.

You just lack the ability to both comprehend and not insult... Twist it how you will, I never said child abuse should be allowed [you troll] . So either debate intelligently and NO TOPIC, or go find yourself some bonbons and a nice Daniel Steele novel to curl up with.

Moving on.
