Spider-Man 3...Lame?

Started by chithappens14 pages

Oh and it was way too cheesy that all those people were watching the last fight also! That was too gay for me.

And is it just me or did Sandman get strong REALLY fast with no real progression of power through the movie?

And we only see Venom fight at then end which is dumb because if I did not know the comic, it would not make sense to me that he is kicking the crap out of Spidey. I would have been thinking "Why isn't his spider sense going off?" We get no taste of what he can do until the end.

Excellent movie

I don't think so. Spidey three is one hell of a great movie. Every scene was fantastic.

😆 Really? What movie were you watching there?

As for the dance scene, people were laughing at it too, but not because it was funny, but because it was so outta place and stupid. You could feel the "WTF" in the room when there were stupid scenes. The jazz scene and "emo-Peter" walking down the street like a complete imbecile were the worst contenders for this.

^hmm be that as it may, a lot of people in the audience at my showing were laughing and "cheeering him on" while he was doing that. A lot of "woos!! Awww yea...." and whistles from my crowd.

Go fig.

U gotta admit though, the scene with Peter walking down the street was just funny 😆

Even if people did find it funny, it still doesn't make it being in there better for the movie. Dark-Peter should have been DARK and really troubled. Like I said, the scene at the end of the "Jazz off" where Peter gets mad at the bouncer for grabbing him was perfect, had they taken the whole Dark-Peter arc like this (and changed the suit so it was actually attached to him like it should be) then it would have been awesome. But by adding in the cheese ball moments it just makes the film seem stupid and you cant take what the black suit does seriously. It actually hurts Venom as well because had the audience known what the black suit did to Peter (if they had made him really truly dark) then Venom would have seemed much more menacing. IMO they F*'d up big time with this. The point is that Venom, the black suit, and Peter are serious story aspects and are meant to be disturbing, but because of they way they handled it it seemed like comic relief, which ruined about 25% of the movie and impacted the seriousness of the remaining 75% of the movie.

^Definitely not fighting that...i think the 90s animated series actually did a decent job of showing exactly that.

I was also wondering about the suit not being on him the whole time and just flowing over him like it's supposed to. Although to be fair, in the early comics, Peter took it off just like his regular outfit. But yea, making it like his red and blue duds and simply turning it black was a copout IMO.

In addition, whatever happened to the premise that JOhn Jameson brought it down to earth?...I guess I missed the memo when they scrapped that idea.

Despite all of this, I'm not saying it was a horrible movie by any means, I'd still give the movie an 8/10. With Spiderman 1 being a 9/10 and Spiderman 2 being a 7.5/10. I just think the movie could have (and should have) been much better, much darker, and much less convoluted. It could have been amazing, it had the potential to be the best of the 3 but instead it was only just "good" and still not as good as Spidey 1.

My main grudge with the movie is Venom's screentime. He was byfar the coolest villain in the movie, and he was tottally the least used.Sandman was done, he didnt need to help Venom out.It would have depicted the Venom character much better if Spidey took him on one on one, and still had to get saved by Harry etc.Still I LOVED the movie, it was still great, and hopefully they will bring Venom back in the 4rth and make up for his lack of character development and screentime.I felt satisfied with the end of every villains story in this movie besides Venom, it was all too short and sudden for him, and thats a shame!

Just got back from seeing it, thought it was fantastic, loved they finaly seem to nail Spider-man's humour side of his character or even just his light heartedness like where he gets the key to the city poses and shouts "SHAZAM" that seemed very Spider-man to me, and how he joked about he was the Sheriff in town to sandman.

Although I would like to see this character depth Kirsten dunst added I think everything she did in that film has happened at some point or another in the comics...

Also and Harry was awsome in this and the team up worked so well, I loved this film def the best one..although the fight between Spidey and Doc Ock in the second still makes me smile...

It still was a good movie, if anything, Venom made it better.I was sick of seeing Sandman, he doesnt appeal to me.They spent too much time developing an un-interesting villain. They KNEW he was un-interesting, so they tried to make him interesting, by making him Uncle Ben's killer.Failed, while I did overall enjoy Sandman's fight scenes, They should have focused on Venom more, its obvious he is the more interesting character.

Overall the movie still ruled!I dont care what anyone says...that was a good movie!

I thought it was amazing.I give it an A

Well I thought imo,it was better than any other Super hero film I have seen.I hate you all were let down, but I came out rather satified and happy.Spiderman 3 gets an A from me!Better than the x men trilogy, and puts Superman Returns to shame.I think all around the best.Sorry I sound like a nut hugger but I was realy happy.

Not a chance. Dude, Venom is one of my favorite Spiderman villains but truth is " He's not that interesting sometimes". I agree that I would have liked to see more screen time with him as Venom but hes just a physical confrontation. Sandman provided the perfect (not necessarily an evil villain ) role and Harry was done even better. But it was better than one to me. GG came off waay cheesier in part one that Peter in part 3. I cringe at some of GGs lines in part one.

I have to say that this movie felt more like an episode of one of the animated tales from the older saturday morning cartoon. The script was silly and had NO substance what so ever...it was just silly. The entire movie felt like a spoof fro the previous two films. There was no character development towards the sandman or Venom. I also was dissapointed because i personally diddnt feel much of a contrast between spiderman and parker, and this is probably because Spiderman wasnt in the movie. EVen when Spiderman was on film, it was peter parker.
So i agree wit the thread starter in that this flick had great potential but failed horribly on nearly al accounts. Just as Sandman's character was about to be delved into, the story switches to Brock, and then to osborne. I'm still not sure what it is the movie was supposed to have revolved around. The symbiote and sandman felt as though they were just thrown in the film because they offered potential for nice CGI, because there really was no back story offered in the movie, With the Sandman they tried to fix this problem by making Sandman the killer of Parkers uncle which was cheap and redundant, just like the entire film. The CGI was nice, but even the aciton sequences felt unemotional and anti climatic....4/10

Oh yea it was definitely rushed, seem like the movie just flew by. I'll wait till its out on video to see it again though. The movie just wasn't how I thought it would be; I was so hyped up for the big fight scenes and they turned out to be bland

I agree man. Where was the supposed dark tone for this film? The flick was crammed full of unwarranted comedic scenes that felt embarrassingly out of place. The fight scenes were also very dissapointing. The final fight scene where osbourne joins the fray, i almost felt some kind of emotion, but that fizzled out fast

The movie was painful to watch. I was eager as anyone else to see it. I was very open minded for the first half hour, even though I saw a few things that was unusual for a Sam Raimi Spider-Man film. By the next hour, I leaned over to my buddy and asked him honestly if he was enjoying this. He said "no & that the movie reminds him of what Sam Raimi put out when he did Darkman. A little forced, corball, campy, too coincidental, weak script... etc." All from the first 1 1/2 hours.

Peter's EMO/bad guy transformation was ridiculous. What??? The wacky John Travolta/Borat dancing down the street and at the club was embarrassing. What were the producers thinking???

How can Sandman cry???

The crying and tears throughout got annoying cause it looked forced and fake. The people in the theatre actually laughed and moaned when Peter cried in front of MJ.

When MJ was hanging 80 stories up in a taxi and Peter took a moment to reflect putting on his regular red and blue costume, someone in the audience actually yelled, " Just put the effing costume on and save her stupid!" The theatre laughed at that outburst.

The film had WAY too many unnecessary scenes with characters talking that did not add to the film, but made it longer and more boring. Harry and MJ making eggs and dancing, to name one. Too many more to even add.

Bottom line... I was thoroughly disappointed. Even X-Men 3, which was a huge drop off from the amazing X-2, was watchable. Spidey 3 is not.

I won't be watching it again. That is too bad.

I just saw it, and i'm going to see it again tomorrow 😬

I was a bit disappointed with it, mainly because it takes FOREVER for Spidey to get the black costume on.

And when he finally does get it on, we hardly see any Black Suit action (besides the Sand-Man fight), most of the time he's just being a dick in his peter parker life, which makes no sense, because I thought the suit was supposed to make him more aggressive, not more of a campy dirtbag.

Plus, the entire emo look he gave himself was laughably bad. Seriously, my friends and I were cracking up when he shifted his hair over his eyes and what not.

If anything, this film made me appreciate the first two films, for what a Spider-Man film SHOULD be.
