This is actually a little alarming. I went to http://www.familywatchdog.us/ and entered my address cause I thought it would be interesting to see if any sex offenders live near me, and it comes back with 137! And trust me I don't live in a bad neighborhood. How many live around you? I would have never guessed so many sex offenders are around. Thank god they have to register themselves. If any of you are parents of young children, I highly suggest you keep an eye on what they're doing online because you never know who might try and contact them. I know Netsmartz411.org is a good site to use if you don't know ways to monitor your kids. I had no idea how many sick people are actually out there.

Not every sex offender is a pedophile. Of those 137 many of them might be registered for public obscenity or something like that.

Agreed Schecter... Murderers should be registered just as sex offenders.

Anyhow, I have seven in my town, three are outright sex offenders/rapist, the others just said something like "charged w/ lewd behavior with a minor". I check it whenever I move, just to make sure my next door neighbors aren't baby-rapers.

Unfortunately enough my country is far too stupid to create such a thing, my government is afraid that Pedophiles will be lynched instead of the alternative. Sitting in a nice cosy solitary jail cell with Tv , good meals and Internet access to all the kiddie porn they ever want....

in a radius of about 7 miles (i think thats the default): 277 offenders
3 miles: 43 offenders
1.5 miles: 8 offenders
1 mile: NONE. ZIP. NADA.

There is no cure for a child molester, they will never stop. It doesn't matter how long they spend in prison, they will never change. As a parent a consider the registration of sex offenders a blessing (Megan's Law). I had one in the past (child molester) that lived a couple of houses away from me, now he doesn't.

Well do it yourself and see the area it covers. I've moved from the country to the Burbs.
