I have nothing against Joe. Dude was one of the pioneers of FF. While Joe is a Muay Thai champ, unfortunatley, King was not able to do that as I mentioned with her being a woman...though if she was allowed to compete, she would also be a Muay Thai champ.
Even though Joe can be downright serious when it comes to the art of Muay Thai, I think King is more serious.
Well as you know Joe won the right to be the Muay Thai Champ, by deafeating Hwa Jai. King also made her way to the finals and looks like she was going to beat the champ. Though since she was discovered as a WOMAN...she was kicked out and disgraced. Had that not have been the case, she would have been the new Muay Thai Champ. That is what I believe puts her on par with Joe.
King was giving Ryo such a hard time and she was not losing rather hand and hand, until Ryo out of desperation executed his special ripping Kings shirt open. Though from what I hear, Adon did defeat Sagat but later was hospitalized. Ryo was going all out King, executed his special,King lost, but was still in tact...other than the shirt ripped apart. In my opinion that's what I think puts her on par with Adon. Though folks here say Ryo is way below Sagat....
ryo isn't really too low. Ryo and Terry are almost as good as the other. even in card fighters Terry is rated as only ONE place higher than Ryo.
at any rate, Ryo has got lots of power, capable of smacking people several feet away with a basic koo-ken (KoFMI). You can only imagine what ichigekihissastu could do. on top of all that he has a projectile that is almost as big as the screen and fast as hell...and a rush move that moves like a blur (ryuku renbu).
PG, there is a part that I have a problem with:
-Storywise Ryo did the haoshikoken to defeat MR. karate...up till that point he hadn't mastered it at all.
-so either he tore her shirt with a weakass version of haohshikoken or by a kooken instead of haohshikoken. at any rate Ryo was FAR from unleashing his true potential...which storywise he only did with Mr. Karate.
-Also King was defeated utterly after the kooken/haohshikoken since she couldn't even cover herself up nor was she able to stand. Ryo not only helped her up but covered her with his gi shirt too.

Though it does state that Ryo thought he was fighting a man, and he was fighting with all his might. Also it was stated the match was close. I want to do some checking of my own on whether Ryo used a "weak" version of haohshikoken/kooken.
