Starcraft 2

Yeah, every day that goes by makes me less excited. Thank God the beta has finally come so we know it has to come out this damn year.

I'm just not THAT much into intense micro-managed competitive gaming. Like Marvel refers to above, all those tricks about kiting units bore the arse out of me.

I'm so not excited about this game that I haven't even bothered asking my friend to get me into the beta.

I mean, listen to the commentary for that second beta video above.

He says the macro is... the same. But the micro is differemnt because... the medic is now a flying unit...you are KIDDING me? I am supposed to get excited at that? You could mod that in to the original with little effort. Some mineral patches are worth more? For real? I may just die of excitement.

Where is the fundamental 'schtick' of a sequel? So many of the comments I see from people about the beta are the same. "The Terrans are more offensive now." This is NOT what people should have been waiting for! Gah! You know, I resent the Korean gaming culture in a lot of ways- it has shaped this the way it has gone.

The one last thing I want solid news on is how the single-player campaign works. That's the area that might still grab my attention. I suspect it won't be co-op though. Gah.

That is one thing my friend said was really good - the campaign.

I don't know why they haven't said more about it. I mean, it's the campaign that has caused the game to be split into 3, yet all anyone seems to care about are these battle reports and what not that are just... so bland.

ONE thing that could excite me about multiplayer is some information on the AI. I like to team up with friends against the computer and a good AI is golden there. DOWII's biggest weakness is that the AI is shit.

(DOWII expansion out in three weeks- looks good).

I think people are probably getting excited over the battle report things because they know blizzard probably isn't going to say much about the campaign before release.

Well they have to sya something. Two years ago they were talking of how innovative it was going to be, and there have been these vague reports of a mercenary like system... and then nothing. I think it's time to build the hype.

I suppose my worry is that people are genuinely only interested in the competitive mulitplayer side, and that saddens me.

I think it's just that the most vocal and excited are the ones who are going to play primarily MP. Most people who buy the game will probably almost exclusively play the campaign.

I dunno, I doubt they'll say much else about the campaign. They probably don't think they have to. I would like to hear more about it, though.

Well yes, that is true about all these games- that it is primarily the single player that gets played.

We'll see. Right now the depressing truth asbout this game remains that nothing I see about it seems to be able to excite me.

I don't know guys, I'm still as excited for this game as ever. Then again, I expected it to be basically Starcraft with pretty graphics and a(hopefully epic) continuation of the story. About the MP: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's also going to have an awesome map editor, I'm eagerly looking forward to that, as well.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" can be taken to a brainless degree. WHat actually is the sequel for, in that case? Simple foolishness to take that as a broad mantra. Good sequels develop and change.

And if all people actually do want is Starcraft with pretty (ish) graphics, then that is something to be very depressed about.

There is still room for improving, even if it is not "broken"

By saying that, I meant the fundamentals. Like Phantom said, there's always room for improvement and I am certain there will be improvements. "Change, change, change!" Can be a brainless mantra as well, you know.

Pretty graphics is just one thing most people want about Starcraft 2. I don't think there are many who want SC2 to be literally a remake of SC1 with 3D graphics.

I honestly don't seem to understand why it took them so much time to create a game thats almost exactly the same as the first one except in better graphics and a bit different balance. This could be sold as an expansion, not a whole new sequel! This would be tolerable if it at least didn't take it FOREVER to come out.

Blame Battle.net 2.0 and Blizzard's extremely strict quality control for that.

personally i cant wait for the game to come out. starcraft has my favorite storyline in a video game but i am so stoked about the multiplayer! 😄 game looks great!

Does anyone know if all three races will be available on play? I know they're focusing on a trilogy of games that each focus on the individual races.

(Terran, Protoss, Zerg, etc.)

I'm assuming that all three races will be available for play in multiplayer but you can never be certain on anything these days.

that is the plan to have all three races for MP yes ✅

That you will be able to play all 3 races in Multiplayer and Skirmish modes is a certainty. Not a shadow of doubt on this one. Blizzard itself has confirmed it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there will be Campaign missions where you get to control a race other than the Terrans.

Also, I heard that there was a tiny Protoss section in the campaign.
