I thought the same thing.

Things should somehow work out, in the end.

...But for the moment, I am actually bloody crying here.cry
Very moving read. Thanks for the scans.

Oh man, that was so touching it made me crap a puppy.

I don't mean that sarcastically either, that was cool.

I doubt it's canon.
I believe it's meant to be his "The End" title.

Well done JMS you have successfully copied the All star superman story. I'm sure Morisson is very proud.

How is this a copy of All-Star Supes ?

The likenesses are very striking now that I think about it. I hadn't made the connection previously.

Superman knew something was wrong.
Went and had tests performed on him.
His cells were beginning to break down.
Trying to decide what to do with the time he has left.
To name a few.

So slight (vaguely inconsequential) similarities link up a story of Surfer verging near death and a story about Superman getting amped up , pulling powers out of his proverbial ******* and doing silver age right.

Not to mention the fact that Superman actually SURVIVES All Star Superman....

Sounds like you're taking offense to the fact that issue 1 of Requiem is pretty much the same story as issue one of ASS.
I don't think anyone is saying the series will be the same, but that issue one is strikingly similar.

Not taking offense, just getting slightly hacked that El Noob Grande can step in and talk smack about a professional writers work as if he could do better.

There should be a few similarities due to the (slightly) similar plot-lines. Though I have a feeling this story will end up a non-canon tale....

Like I said, I believe it's his "The End" issues. It also screams that it's not current in that he said "Former Herald of Galactus".

Or it might be the introduction of a weakness associated with having cosmic power.

If this was his 'THE END' title, they would have that in the main title.
Like it was specualted earlier, this might be the consequences of what happened in ANNIHILATION.

I thought it sounded like the standard character dying of cancer type story. The same thing happened in The Royal Tenenbaums. Although that ended up being a lie. Sorry to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Wouldn't both then be a copy of Death of Captain Marvel?

Well, the start of ASS anyway...

This feels a lot like DoCM, in a series form.

Too movie-promotional

Actually Requiem had been talked about for quite a while with writers though I agree the timing is rather suspicious.

We don't know if he survives this or not.
