Its in the same issue where superman got hit with a submarine. Before him and the jla confronted dr poloris superman and the jla was gathered around and superman told the entire team that it wouldnt be good to confront doctor poloris due to doctor poloris being able to affect their blood.

It was a statement that was made before the battle even began.
