Well, Will saved Jack in COTBP, first he helped him go out of the prison - only because he needed him for saving Elizabeth - let's not forget - he was the one who'd put him in this prison first 😛 (showing off with his sword like a stubborn boy) Then he saved him at the end of COTBP - but he did it just to show off in front of the girl - Liz was watching, it was a good moment for him to tell Liz his feelings... In DMC Will needed Jack once again. Do I have to mention his true intentions in AWE? What Jack did for him at the end was coming from his heart. Jack didn't save Will because he needed him, he gave up his dream. That's why Jack should get his reward - Liz 😛
He saved Jack at the end of CotBP because it was the right thing to do. Don't forget that Will knew he was going to die if they were caught.
In DMC, without Will's efforts to free the crew, Jack would never have escaped from the cannibals.
And let us not forget that Jack traded Will in DMC to the Dutchman. We as the audience may have known that Jack was going to save him, but as far as Will knows, Jack screwed him over.
In AWE, we don't actually know Will's true intentions. He tells the bad guys he only went on the mission to save Jack, but we are never given the chance to see if Will would have allowed them to keep Jack. Will can't very well tell Sao Feng that after he hands Jack over to him that he will then attempt to rescue Jack again, can he?
And again, what does any of this have to do with Will/Elizabeth? 😉
Thanks for answering to my question Surreal. I'm glad you don't feel like age is the issue. WE shippers prefering WE to JE cause of age is as shallow as some JE shippers only wanting JE to be together cause they 'look hot'. I -just sayin this personally- don't want them to rum off together cause they look good together but I know a lot of people do.
See I'm willing to admit that WE is a nice couple and that AWE is a great movie but I'm just saying they aren't for me you know?
I leave you and the whole thing goes to pot! OK that's hipocritical but I just spent the last 40hrs and 34mins solidly with my nose in a book, so I'm tired but happy to have finished the d***** book! So Yeah I couldn't really be bother to read all of that seeing as how much I just read, I should go to bed..., so I just kept seeing things like "Jack" .... "JE"..... "Jack"...."JE" pop up so I figured I should say something about WE:
I like WE, I think that Jack should hate Elizabeth because she burnt all his rum and sent him to the locker.
Willabethers, just go listen to the commentary by TnT on the DMC dvd. They kept saying that Jack is vexed by Liz. And they also said that Liz killed Jack to kill her lust, her guilt and her feelings for Jack. Jerry B, the producer, even said it was a love triangle. Jack loves Liz, Liz loves Will and is unsure of what her feelings are about Jack. That's all plain enough.
So, go ahead and ship Will/Liz. Everyone has a right to their dream ship.
yeah whatever...but Keira Knightly herself is a Sparrabether.....oh well
You guys won, so I'm not sure what all this discussion is about...just for fun I suppose.
Surreal, I get your point. although it totally baffles me....but that's exactly part of the reason I don't like Willabeth...because i don't care for Orlando Bloom and I think he fails in comparison to Johnny...and not only do I favor Johnny, but I also favor Jack...so that is why it is hard for me to imagine her going with Will when she could have Jack..but the same goes for you...you don't find Johnny attractive and you don't care for Jack Sparrow so you prefer will and elizabeth as opposed to j/e.....but ultimately you prefered l/n (norrington)...because you like Jack Davenport the best.....
hey I prefer a Liz Norrington match over Will and Elizabeth....I just think their relationship is boring and I think will is boring and rash.....
and for me, I feel like Jack, in the end, was the best out of all three of them...he had the best heart and did things in the end to benefit others over himself......whereas Will and Elizabeth are only caring about themselves and to hell with happens to Jack......
so, in that perspective...yea, let lizzy the charming murderous be with the Captain of the Flyng Dutchman (she only deserves to be loved one day out of 10 years)...
and that's another thing...if she is such a nasty little murderer...why is she any better for Will....afterall, she did murder a man, and Will, good honest, by the book Will still wants her?..that's out of character....you always argue that why would Jack want Liz when she murdered him..so why would Will want her..the end results is still the same...she murdered a man...so what makes it any better that she is with Will, so that arguement doesn't wash with me...i'm with TooFreedom and other Sparrabethers, for us, that was part of the intrigue...how Elizabeth and Jack would overcome this betrayal...but it was never even addressed..not really....
just mumble jumble...oh welll.....
I leave you guys alone to wallow in your Will and Elizabeth lovefest....I'll stick to Sparrabeth and Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp....
Oh, sigh, the never-ending argument. I've been trying to make sense of this triangle vs. no triangle and I think I've got it, at least what the writers wanted me to get anyway.
The way I see it, you have a trio (not to be confused with triangle) of people with various personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. The trio fell into a pattern where one mainly looks out for another. In other words, Will almost always saves Jack, Jack almost always saves Liz, and Liz almost always saves Will. That's how they operate and it works for them. They've managed to keep each other alive, and on occasion, someone saves the other they're not "responsible" for, such as Jack making Will stab the heart to save him. The trio love each other, but in different ways.
Now for the sparrabethers, we weren't 100% wrong. We were 50% wrong during DMC and sadly, 100% wrong for AWE. If you listen to the commentary of DMC and read "Bring Me the Horizon" (the making-of book), it is made crystal clear Jack has feelings for Liz, strong ones. He can't get her out of her head, goes back to save her when the writers say the compass was pointing to land. All is going well for sparrabethers up to that point. Liz was right about Jack, he's a good guy, and crushing on him would be justified. Will's not a pirate and Liz wants to be one and she needs a mentor. One could argue that Jack acts more as a mentor to her rather than a love interest because her only other mentor is Barbossa and he's not even in DMC. But, alas, there is one key thing that made sparrabeth something that could never be: they kissed.
Jack likes being alive and Liz ruined that. We assumed he would forgive her and maybe admire her a little more for doing it, but he didn't. He held a grudge for a while in AWE, and it takes the death of her father for him to even consider her feelings and what she's gone through in the last few months. That being said, it's miraculous they stay as close as they are by the end of AWE. It's more original, imo, to have a relationship in a movie between a man and a woman that is loving and intimate without being romantic. Is it what I personally wanted? No, but it works for me because Jack's not pining away for her at the end. His feelings developed into the kind of love he would feel for a sister...although if the opportunity ever came up....
Will? Will's cool. Never had a problem with him. He's just not a pirate and Liz is. Will can adapt, and he's skilled enough to do well in the pirate world, but he wants no part of it. He wants to do the honorable thing without compromising his morals and he hates having to do otherwise, although he's good at it. I think the main reason I don't care for willabeth is that I don't see them together. We went from them admitting they have feelings for each other to being engaged! Where did that year go? What did they do? I'm sure if we had seen that, I might have liked them. They're also separated throughout DMC until the end. They're thinking about each other, but we have no interaction. Will's character develops through his father and Liz's character develops from Jack. Then in AWE, there is so much fighting and double crossing that they never have a real moment alone. The ending? I hate the ending. Absolutely hate it. I think they both got screwed over. That's just my take.

OK, I'm up for wallowing, where's potcfan_2003? Has anyone seen her? Is she still reading Harry Potter? I see a weird element of potc in Harry Potter? Anyone else? All the double crossing, and also some of the lines sounded like Jack.

willo..so nice to hear from you..I've missed you and your logical explanations. This does make alot of sense. And I agree pretty much with everything you said here......
what do you mean willofthewisp when you say Will's not a pirate? OF COURSE HE IS!!!!!! He is the new freaking Davy Jones (in a manner of speaking!) And I think we can argue this put as long as we need to but me, potcfan_2003 and surreal_44 have all already reached the correct conclusion, Will and Elizabeth are married, they have a son (please don't quote that and say anything sick!) therefor it is highly unlikly that Jack will ever get the girl!

I'm back!! Yeah, I noticed that about HP too, but did you read the books? I read all the books more than once, exept for the 7th, bc I haven't read it yet.
Imnotobsessed.com report:
"After months of revealing their mutual admiration for each, Orlando Bloom and his Pirates of the Caribbean costar, Naomie Harris, have taken their love for each other public when they were seen having a romantic dinner last night in London. The pair became close friends after Orlando’s breakup with actress, Kate Bosworth. Noamie became a friend and shoulder to lean on after the breakup, and when she fell sick with a cold on the Pirates set, Orlando was there to make her feel better. According to the Daily Mail, Naomie had revealed,
“When I did the second ‘Pirates’ film I caught a cold on the plane on the way to start shooting. When I arrived on set everyone was there, Geoffrey Rush, Johnny, Orlando, and I was kind of intimidated because I caught this cold and I could hardly speak. But Orlando was really sweet, he came up to me and gave me all this cough syrup.”
^^^I knew it..i could see the chemistry between them when they first meet in the hut.....perhaps Will will actually cheat on Elizabeth with Tia Dalhma.....it could happen....
And you know what...Will really isn't a Pirate..he may be a Pirate by blood - but not really - his father became a Pirate after Will was born - he hates pirates..he practiced three hours a day so that when he met a pirate, he could kill it.....and even throughout AWE, he still really doesn't care much for Pirates....yes, he's cpatain of the FD..but not by choice...by Jack's choice....

Jerry Bruckheimer called it a love triangle in his interview during the "making of AWE" clip.
