Well being an adult is a fact, but being a grown-up is an opinion and in CotBP Jack was an adult, but not a grown-up and Elizabeth was a grown-up but not an adult and Will was both. word.

Depends on your definition of grown up.

Being an adult or grown up doesn't mean you have to be all serious and thet a grown up person always does respecteable and noble things.Sorry to disappoint you.Everybody does stupid things throughout his/her life.But people can change for the better.What's inside one's heart,that's the thing that matters.Sorry we're not arguing,just telling our opinions.

Yeah I suppose but Elizabeth seems more mature than Jack to me, but hey, each to their own! (I don't think we're arguing! 🙂 )

Yes, but neither of those men got Liz. Instead she married Will, the one the same age as her.

That doesn't mean it was impossible for her to end up with Jack or Norrington.

I have a new theory type thing... yeah, most girls her age were expected to marry men 10-20 years older than them but as we've seen throughout the movies she's way more independant than any other woman of that time so she thinks "What the heck, I'm pirate king I'll do what I want." And marries the one she actually loves and WANTS to marry.

(that's my opinion anyway and this is a willabeth thread so i'm not meaning to offend anyone.)

That is true. In COTBP, even before all this pirate king stuff, she was cruel and lied to Norrington and took Will, the one she wants to marry, because she's independent and knows how to get what she wants. She would do the same thing if she loved Jack or Norrington.

But she doesn't because she married Will. I like how she's independant and the part when her father had just died and he said he was proud of her, that made me happy then: "I'll give your love to your mother shall I?" made me cry. It's sad! But it was like he cared about her, but he knew she was fiery and independant and stepped back to let her be.

RANDOM: sparrabeth thread has roughly 10 times as many posts as ours, we really are out numbered, but it's weird because willabeth existed first and lasted!

Neither Sparrabeth nor Willabeth existed first. Someone could've seen Elizabeth and Jack on the poster in the theater for COTBP and wanted them to end up together. Now the writers made Willabeth HAPPEN, but that doesn't mean it's the most popular ship.

I was making a point it was the least popular yet it had been a theme in the actual movies for the longest and had been more prominent at the end.

Since this is a Willabeth thread, I'll respectfully not argue here. But I was just trying to understand Willabethers' thoughts about whether they're uncomfortable with Jack/Liz pairing becos' of the age difference. Willabethers, please help me out here.

I understand what you're saying...that Elizabeth married Will who was the same age as her but I think that was because she loved Will and the fact that she loved Will had nothing to do with age...

I'm not saying (not on this thread anyways) that Elizabeth loved Norrington or Jack but I don't think age was the reason...

But IS the age difference why WE shipper don't like JE?

HEHE! I agree with that! I love Norri but Elizabeth didn't have any feelings but friendship (maybe a bit more but still mainly friendship) for him and I would hate to see her be miserable. What ever floats her bota!

Yeah I like norri and everything but his love is more as sort of a brother more than a lover.

sorry for double posting but my edit is way expired, i think Will is far more attractive than Norri and although the last thing you can say about Elizabeth is she's shallow, she needs to have some standards! 😄

so true... and age is sooo not the reason for me. I just like Will better than Jack. That, and Will and LIz were made for each other.

Ok, so Willabethers like W/E pairing becos':

1) Jack is cool on his own
2) Will is better than Jack

Now, another question: Are Willabethers uncomfortable seeing Johnny Depp who is 43 at that time of AWE filming with Keira Knightley who was 21 at that time? Are Willabethers more comfortable seeing 30-year-old Orlando Bloom with Keira Knightley? Note that this is about the actors, not the characters.
