so for the next PotC, we'll be talking a plot that will support more of a John Wayne/Maureen O'Hara (check out the Quiet Man) kind of pairing--more equals, strong woman who's not a maid. Bummer, becos I so love the shy maiden who has all the experiences save One! paired with the more streetwise slightly older manly man--Sexual tension is where it's at for making a movie, story, whatever, mouth watering delicious, IMO. Jack was always able to trump Elisabeth's most creative response becos he could always play the 'I know something you don't know' lovey card or he could raise the stakes on any bet, "give yourself to me"--okay, it was so a "pirate" moment.
I just happened to catch Ms. Beckinsale in her kick the mortal or undead behind of anyone on the planet at anytime and look so totally stunning and hot in my spraypainted on leather body suit movie. Can she do girly girl, not just submissive fem?
"I've never seen them... wat r they rated?"------potcfan
Hmm, I don't think they're all rated R. At least I don't think Van Helsing is.

nice warrior woman--I remember her now in Van helsing--she was pretty rock 'em, sock 'em robot kinda tough. She could push comes to shove, okay, still feeling a little overpowering for Capt'n Jack--Barbossa's daughter? niece? Somehow a forced pairing where they could grow on one another, grudging respect? A little "anything you can do, I can do better"?
I so love the commentary by TnT when they identify CJS not as a buffoon, or a lucky slacker, but as chess player who is always many moves ahead of his opponents. Quite the man--and ever the dapper dresser.
Just a quick word--Whatever became of AnaMarie, Miz WilloftheWisp? Does anyone know? She was one who didn't return from the crew of the Interceptor/Black Pearl.
tex, if ever there's POTC 4, they should try not to fit another woman into the Lizzy mold. It won't work. I think Capt Jack needs another lady to outsmart, outwit and outlast him - sexual tension is at the greatest when one falls for an opponent. Think of Batman and Catwoman. Maybe Gibbs' long-lost, estranged younger pirate sister?
What kind of woman would you suggest, To Freedom? I don't think it should be anyone a lot weaker than Elizabeth. Sure, Jack felt a need to protect her, but part of that was necessity since she was inexperienced as a pirate, too. I don't think he wants somebody really delicate that can't hold their own. At the same time, I don't think he would want to be outdone all the time, you know? No matter how cool Liz got, he would always have experience over her. He would always be able to say, "Hey, I was doing this kind of stuff while you were still a kid."
I'm really not trying to put you on the spot. It's just what you said is true. It shouldn't be a girl exactly like Elizabeth. But who should it be?

yeah, I honestly think it would take Jack some time to move on from elizabeth--- not because he is a sappy romantic who will mope because he lost, but because he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who let's people in a lot... or let's people become such a big part of his life. he sacrficed his life for her (and will and the others) multiple times during the series, and by the end of awe, was putting practically everyone's needs before his own. she really changed him--- or brought out a different side of him. i think that's something he might mull over for a while, whilst taking his pleasure with shorter term relationships.
but after a while, after some adventures and some time to make peace, i reckon Jack will bump into someone who perplexes and astounds him, someone who can beat him at his own game but also needs a bit of rescuing now and again... someone who will remind him of Lizzie, but occupy a very different place in his heart... and eventually probably they will fall hopelessly in love and be the two most dangerous, legendary pirates in the caribbean. i'm imagine a clever mix of Marian from raiders of the lost arc, Elena from mask of zorro, and Meg from hercules.
i think we sparrabethers may have fallen victim to t and t's ridiculous notion (well played out by the series) that elizabeth is the only eligible female in the caribbean. we've got to remember, there are a fair amount of notorious female pirates and other interesting characters sailing the seven seas.
why am i posting this on the willobeth thread? haha

Kate, you took the words out of my mouth! Lizzy will always have a special place in Jack's heart. But I really think the Lizzy arc is closed and finished (unless TnT can creatively imagine something that we never think of). She's in a special place with Will and perhaps we should leave it as that (I'm a Sparrabether but since this is Willobeth thread, I'll respect it.)
It will take some time before Jack falls in love again with a "normal" woman. He would go back to his old ways, fooling around with new strumpets until another woman, his own kind, aka, pirate (real full-blooded, not a wannabe like Lizzy), pulls him into that crazy little thing called love again. This pirate female will be a real baddie through and through until somehow her encounters with Jack leads to a change and she discovers that she can be a woman of honour, something that Jack discovered in himself through Lizzy. It's like a parallel. Hope I'm making sense.

I totally know what you mean. Like lizzie, in the fact she must be daring, bold, fearless, clever, and seductive, but probably a bit more experienced, maybe a bit more mysterious, and a bit more grown up in the ways of the world. it would be difficult to maintain someone like Jack's attention, so she's got to be extremely interesting.
all this talk of finding Jack a new lady love makes me want to try my hand at a new potc 4 fanfic... or at least, volunteer Willo's hand for the task... 😉
"Marian from raiders of the lost arc, Elena from mask of zorro, and Meg from hercules"-----Kate
Am I to assume these are your favorite movies? Lol, you mention Marian a lot. Did you know she'll be in Indy 4?
Hmm, yes, I agree so far that Jack will probably go for someone a little closer to his own age next time, someone not quite as innocent as Elizabeth was...although all that's gone now. I kind of see someone like Meg from Hercules making her way into his life. She'll be tough and competent and maybe a little dead to the world, much like Jack. Hollywood might even be so bold as to have her actually save the guy for once like Meg did.
But also like Meg she'll be vulnerable. There will be some baggage that comes with her that Jack might often get frustrated with, but he'll stick around, maybe without even knowing why. Let's not forget that Jack has interacted with female pirates before (Anamaria) and yet it was Liz that did something to him, affected him. So there has to be some element of her that's in the next girl that will actually work out. Some kind of vulnerability or need to be saved every now and then. I think Jack likes to be needed once in a while.
Me neither, although I will probably see it. I'm not looking forward to Shia LeBeauf (sp?) being in it, although he is a good actor. I just don't know if I'll like, "But Indy, I'm your son!" His dad and Sallah aren't going to be in it and no Nazis and he's got that turkey neck thing going on....but I do love Indiana Jones. First fictional love was Han Solo, then Indy, then Jack.
So, uh, to tie it all back to willabeth...which is the name of the thread and I don't want to be reported...anbody know any couples named Will and Elizabeth in real life? My parents' names are William and Beth, but her real name is actually Beth and my dad goes by Bill. Anyone else? Oh, I also had a friend from ROTC named Will and his wife was named Beth.

i don't know a single Will.
(Han Solo was my first film love... I've been in love with him since I was 5. Indy too.) No nazis? No film.
I don't think I know anyone named Elizabeth either. Weird.
So, where do you guys reckon Will and Lizzie set up house once Will gets back?
