Alliance, is your whole little rant about Jedi and Sith and how Mace Windu is not a benevolent individual you completely overlooked a very key element: The Force.Mace Windu, as a Jedi could begin to forsee the events that would transpire through his inaction. Just look at what happened when the Empire was in power. Mace Windu, through the use of his Shatterpoint ability (referenced in the ROTS novel, making in completely valid) could see a way to nullify that future: through Sidious' death. He did nothing out of anger, he did it for the goodness of the galaxy. He didn't care about whatever political circumstances or penalties he might face.
He was morally straight, and violating the law when it is unjust is completely ethically acceptable.
Or, Would you stay loyal to England and fight against George Washington in the 1770's? Do you see anyone who was drafted and didn't fight for a course they don't believe in as a morally plagued individual? If it were the 1850's would you own slaves or label anyone who released slaves illegally as unethical? Would you tell Stormtroopers or Nazi MP's where Jews were hiding under Hitler's reign in Germany?
If not, then maybe you see my point. If so, then, I think your credibility may decrease a significant amount.
Overlooking the force? Come on. Where is the Force in all this? You didn’t even address the Force.
We start with “shatterpoint”. I’m so glad that you referenced this, because its really great to start a trend of including every fan-boy wet dream concept into movie canon. “Shatterpoint” is EU, just like “vapaad” and is just another EU distraction from Lucas’ already twisted storyline.
Let us assume that shatterpoint is real. If Mace can actually foresee events, then let us go back 12 years to Naboo. Apparently Mace’s fantastic fanboy skills weren’t up to par yet. Siphoning the endless vats of Jedi knowledge, Mace doesn’t even know that there are two Sith Lords at any given time. The rotting green goblin has to explain it to his sorry ass. Great skills there. Then, he can’t even identify the Sith Lord sitting next to him...the SAME Sith Lord that he tried to assassinate 12 years later...you know…the one who brings the galactic apocalypse? Mace has got no skills to speak of. The only real “shatterpoint” that Master Windu has is his skull, joyously fracturing into many tiny pieces as it makes love to the concrete of Coruscant. There is the real Force at work.
If Windu’s “shatterpoint” ability is so godly, where was it in the Senate when he approves the Clone army? Where was it on the landing pad where he burns Anakin, forcing him into a moral crisis? If Windu even had a shatterpoint ability, he certainly can’t use it. There were hundreds of points that were literally reflecting off his shiny head when he could have easily foreseen what was going to happen. Steeping in his own power trip, Mace, like all Jedi, was simply a moral vacuum, scrambling for more and more power, wildly chopping the head off anyone, friend or foe, that he perceived to be in competition. Windu had no skill…and he certainly didn’t have shatterpoint. The only think he had was his purple murder stick and that is the only think he knew how to use.
Morally straight? Did you even read what I wrote? I don’t need to address it again. And then you give me a string of poor historical analogies…nice. The American Revolution, Emancipation, or the Nazis have nothing to do with this situation. Mace isn’t hiding Jews, he’s assassinating heads of governments. That seems a slight difference to me, but what do clones know. Maybe you and the Jedi think “saving” and illegal mob violence are the same thing. Mace did more than violate laws, he violated his rank, he violated the symbolism of his weapon, and he violated democracy. Mace was about as morally straight as a rancor, solely reliant on the symbolism of his eternally bloodless sword for power.
So, I’m not the EU freak with no credibility. “BUT U FOREGOT THAT MACEZORZ HAS A SIZE 13 SHOEZ” Your points are not canon, they don’t even make sense. I can’t even really rant against most of them because they are so off topic and have nothing to do with Mace. I got in like, what...one good paragraph?
