I believe there are different ways the bible can be interpreted, there is the gnostic interpretation, the rosacrucian interpretation, etc, etc...
However, we must be careful of how we are re-interpreting that. Doing that by pure intuition can lead to wrong interpretations sometimes, but it is possible to do it by exploring from where the concepts of the bible originated and what were their original meaning.

By what I have researched this is what look like :
The Son of Man = The human mortal aspect of Jesus.
The Son of God = The divine aspect of Jesus.
Normally Jesus is always viewed as God without the mortal self. So perhaps this particular interpretation of 'The Son of Man' was ignored.
