Do you believe pulling the tube?

Let's say your family member or your best friend is brain-dead. Unable wake up again but technically still alive. Would you pull the tube/plug and end your miserable brain-dead friend's misery?

Question... How are they in misery, if they're "brain-dead"? WTF do they know.

Pull it. The only thing their continued life (which is no more significant than an amoeba) contributes is sucking tax dollars to keep em ticking.

Pull it because I think anyone would rather be dead than alive without having the brain to percieve the world like you used to, or sumthin like that.

i cant quite choose...its easy to say "yeah i would pull the plug" because its financially smarter. But in actuality, you'd probably end up thinking about all the time you've spent with that person and the fact that their still breathing is proabably some type of hope.

if here is NO chance WHATSOEVER of waking, pull it.....yank it like you are starting a mower.

I would certainly want people to pull the plug on me, and I probably would do it in a situation like this, unless the person told me once that they didn't want that done to them.

well, this is why some people do a living will. i think that once you get middle aged, or around 50, you should do this.

if they're brain dead they cant very well experience misery...or anything really.

at the point of being brain dead its a matter of dignity as well as finances.
why keep a vegitable hooked up to machines when all it accomplishes is robbing them of their dignity in dying. for me it wouldnt even be a decision, but rather an act of common sense.

i would love for someone to dig up that idiotic quote from the last of many threads on this topic, where the grandmother interviewed said that the kid should stay on life support, braindead, "as god intended"

We have some brain-dead users on this forum. Can we make that decision for them?

When you're brain dead I would think the worst part about it is you can't really think, and you wouldn't even know you were brain dead.

Anyway,

I have already told everyone in my family to pull the plug ASAP if I end up in a situation like that.

Also, we are weakening the human race because people are surviving through modern medicine that should not be surviving and they are passing along their genetic defects to their offspring. Mother nature cannot run its natural course because of that. This will all go away in the near future with 'gene doping" things...but the strengthening of the human genetic structure will only be available to the rich. damn, I am talking myself in circles again.
