Do you believe pulling the tube?

Put it in a living will. I had to be involved with that same scenario. It was tough, but she wanted it done.

People have survived and been revived from decade-long comas. You have no absolute way of knowing whether or not your loved one will wake up or not.

If it were someone I loved, I would keep the plug..I would pay as much as I had to to keep them alive, in hopes that one day he/she will awaken to see me again.

I could care less for the city' tax dollars, money is worthless in comparison to a life, especially the life of someone you love.

JIA..I am shocked that you finally made a thread about a topic other than Jesus. congrats 👆

we are talking about people who are braindead. its not beyond science to know the difference. so *kerplunk*

Yeah braindead people's brains never wake up. It'd be better to be dead than braindead, cause when you're braindead it's almost like you're not there at all I would think.

Hey maybe braindead but that does not mean to kill them.It should be there choice not the doctors or love ones.Theres.JM

its not a tough concept. brain = dead.

Oh yeah good idea let's ask the braindead person if they want us to pull the plug.

why not just say: "i dont think they should bury a corpse unless it consents to be buried. just leave it in the hospital and keep any remaining organs alive"

Schecter, brain-dead is not alive. Brain dead is biological death, and there's no life.

JIA, are you talking about biological death or clinical death ?

There is a difference between the two ...so far this thread makes no sense...a person cannot truly be brain dead and "technically" alive.

People in comas can still show brain activity

Brain dead people cant.

lolz

Schecter...a person who is brain dead is DEAD...they are not "technically alive". There bodies will rot due to a cessation of life activities throughout the courpse.

What do you not understand ?

All right, to be clear, I meant people like Terri Schiavo. Vegetable People.

Or people like they can't ever wake up again AND they're still alive.

For ****s sake... "Brain Dead" does not mean "complete lose of life".

Oh, so now you're pro-choice... 😄
If my brain-dead friend signed a DNR or told me she/he would never want to be kept alive by machines, then I'd pull the plug. Otherwise, it's tough, but I wouldn't keep anyone alive just because I couldn't get over their death.

If the persons suffering constantly and would have died without arificial help, I´d pull the plug.

There are ways of testing brain activity response to specific stimuli. Based off these results, a Neurologist can determine how "Brain-Dead" someone is.
