If that actually happens in a book the author must be a f*cking clown. Sidious even finishes jedi masters like Kit Fatso off in mere seconds. Maul is killed by a padawan dealing an obvious blow. His only plus point was his lightzabor, not his brain. He never says much because he's simple.
Maul was pissed, and yes, it did happen. He is just that good.
Maul being killed was PIS.
Maul was actually trained by Sidious to be "smarter than any foe could anticipate." He caused battles within the Black Sun. He led Qui Gon to where he could get him alone. The only reason Maul doesn't talk much is because saying anything to Sidious (who was Maul's only real person to have conversations with) is redundant. He already knows.
