Meh. The functional difference is minimal and writers hardly listen to handbooks anyway.

The functional difference is gargantuan! Constructs are made out of Oan energy rather than matter.

The difference between an object made out of energy, and an object made out of matter is 'functionally minimal'?!

Except that maintaining a construct-sword, would require constant energy output from the GL...

This is much different then that same GL, manipulating matter to create a 'real' sword... imo.

I thought the constructs acted like matter when they were supposed to be material.

I guess that would be a big difference then.

I can recall this not being the case a few times. They've used constructs and made them permanent but it is rare.

I'm talking, say, chemical reactions and the like. Do you think an Oan Sword is going to rust? 😬.

Were they stagnant/basic consructs? Or were they animated/complex constructs?

The example I'm thinking of was rather complex.

Which one is that?

Scans or it didn't happen.

I know, I know. I've been here long enough to know the procedure. uhuh

Well no but why would you want a sword that would rust? 😛

I see your point though, it would prevent them from creating explosives and such. But when making object a GL construct works just the same as the original.

We know they can still make energy since we've seen them fire energy blasts so they can probably compensate anyway.

IMO a clever writer could give them many of their old feats under these supposed restrictions. It just wouldn't be as direct,

Never mind. They terraformed a planet which is impressive but not what you asked for, Galan. 🙁

Kyle once made lanterns for the League to use. The kept working for a long time (an issue or two) without any concentration on his part and no apparent connection to the ring.

Afraid I don't have scans though.

More important than explosives, it would prevent them from creating any sort of biological entity, or any sort of ecosystem.

Or, you know, ANYTHING that requires (even simple) chemical reactions.

Explosives was just the first thing that came to mind.

Simple chemical reactions can be mimicked with plasma and energy. In the CorpsWar they made guns and energy lances both of which would normally require chemical reactions.

It's okay. ermmgrin

On a sidenote,
Have you seen the scans where Kyle basically dies, but is able to live as a spirit, due to his GL abilities?

Of course he's eventually brought back, but it's still a nice feat.

Do you have me on ignore or something? 🙁

Alternatively, the guns could have simply been a construct analogue. There isn't any real reason to believe that they were using actual gun-powder, it was just imaginary. 🙂.

I don't have you on ignore, Val, but I'm a bit confused as to what I've been ignoring? 😕.

Um Val shows Kilowog and Kyle terraform a planet and evolve simple organisms into oxygen producing plants.

*Nods* Happens in the Rann-Thanagar War.
