🙄How did I know you guys would like Ed Benes' artwork? I must be a mind reader. Trust me, the guy's alright, but he's all about hero poses and T&A. Joe Madureira was too, but at least he has his own style. Ivan Reis is much, much, much better than Ed Benes. And artists like Ethan Van Sciver absolutely sh1t on Ed Benes.
It'd be hard to deny Sciver and Reis don't destroy Benes in terms of overall quality. That doesn't mean Benes isn't good, just that he isn't the best.
Originally posted by Darth ViciousI don't care much for Mark Bagley either. Everyone was raving about him when he was doing Ultimate Spiderman. My first comic subscription was Amazing Spiderman, around the time of Maximum Carnage before all the clone nonsense and he was the regular artist back then. I preferred his art back then to what I see today.
I aint gonna lie, I dont care when Benes draws male characters. T&A is his forte which is why he was perfect on Birds of Prey.I really like Joe Mad's anime style. U hardly saw anime in comics when he started which was fresh. Now u see it all the time but he still stands out.
Guys like JrJr and Mark Bagley havent really evolved. I still like JrJrs art and would pick him over a lot of artists but I grew out of Bagleys art which is why I cant get in to Trinity (let the bashing begin).
The first time I read GL:Rebirth, the first thing that stood out was, Who is this artist. His was incredibly. I was mostly surprised because DC sucked in the artist department. Most of their recent good talent came from Marvel. This guy came out of nowhere (at least to me) and now I think hes one of the best.

Really? I haven't see much outside of fight scenes from him but it feels like he takes most of the worse aspects of each style and puts them together. It's distinctive and he certainly manages to put the two together but it feels awkward to look at.

Same here. I would say I started about a year before Maximum Carnage. Years later when he started on U.Spidey, his art was still the same. I love his Spidey but I dont care for any other character he draws.
This Skrull is an abomination 😐

how so?
also, what's the deal with angel and archangel both being in the same issue of secret invasion: x-men? in the same series of fights, no less. i'm not really up on my x-force these days, but that struck me as odd. then again, it is a skrull-centric storyline.

Angel can shift between forms apparently (After X-Force #6). It was implied in UXM #500 I guess it was confirmed in this issue.

so he golden-boyed out to flirt with his ex, then put on his tough face for the x-force crew? weak.
Pretty much, although that's really the only compromise they could up with without sending Angel back to the dark ages with the Archangel transformation. And on the flip side they made him more useful in battle since his golden-boy form is pretty useless comparatively.
Dark Reign?? I wonder if the Skrulls win after all. The heroes at the M.U dont seem to catch a break!
