Spoiler:
Spider Woman and Mockingbird(god knows why). Wasp's death made no sense whatsoever
One thing that bothers me about S.I#8 is the
Spoiler:. Correct me if im wrong but isnt SHIELD a part of the U.N therefore the U.S president has no right to disband the organization without the approval/votes of the U.N.
U.S president seemingly disbandinding SHIELD. Placing Norman as head of the Thunderbold Initiative
As for the last page, I have no idea why Emma or Namor are there. A cheap plot to established a "villains" version of the Illuminati?
I don't buy the Hood as a major player, compared to everyone else on the panel he is a nobody. I know Bendis has a boner for Parker but I can't help but feel there are villains much better suited for the position that would bring a lot more to the table with them.
And Osborn telling Doom "how its going to be" is laughable.

Try to figure out who SHIELD answers to. It's supposed to be the U.N. but when Cyclops asked Nick Fury why they didn't intercede in Genosha, Fury just said "That ain't American soil." 🙄
Namor was with the previous Illuminati. Maybe they want a group with more edge to them, who wouldn't let things like the Scarlet Witch debacle happen.

That's true. There hasn't been a power balance in the Marvel Universe ever since the Illuminati formed and this is what pisses the others off. It took an even greater shift after Tony became Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Know it seems like the other extreme is happening. Hopefully they'll be a lot more discreet in their displays of political power although I can't see Norman doing that.
The others are their for their own self preservation.
Dr. Doom like it or not has been humiliated...for the last year or so. And I don't like what Millar's been implying in his interviews about Doom having a Master but whatever. We'll only really find out what he wants from this alliance next year but presumably it involves S.H.I.E.L.D. never setting foot on Latverian soil ever again.
Namor is pretty much self preservation and possibly revenge. Atlantis under went a forced exodus.
Norman...I can't really see any altruistic motive here...it's all self interest.
Emma Frost...I'm not sure. Mutant kind has for the most part been left alone by the government. Tony wasn't stepping on their toes ever since she told him to GTFO.
Bendis has apparently read all of Matt Fractions scripts for Uncanny and she's not very happy with Scott lately...I don't know, she may be there for mutant kind but there has to be something else that they can offer...Scarlet Witches head?
Hood...to prevent a power mad crazy like Tony from ever coming about again. Also crime will be easier to carry out. Also Dormmamu what would he want?
Loki...don't ask me. She's been gaining Balder's trust in Thor. What could they possibly offer her that she couldn't do herself eventually? She seems to be doing fine manipulating Thor anyway.

While reading this series I was all like "It may be bad now, but I bet they're going to have the big reveals and plot points in the final issue(s)". It turned out it's not the case, and it's just a bad event from start to finish. ermm
i was all prepared to post, and then i saw what you said, which said everything i was going to, so...
Bendis sucks. I would think atleast half the posters here can write a better ending than this hack. Even the last page was boring. If he was going to usher in Dark Reign, I think it could have been better than a one page with the villains just sitting. Atleast two or three pages to follow with some interaction as between them that leads us to a climatic cliff hanger.
Osborne: So this is how it's going to be.
THE END.
LOL. WTF?

Maybe I shouldn't have said anything...I might have jinxed it. 😮I only just realized that with the X-Men being so close to the Eternals means that Apocalypse can't be that far away seeing how the last time we saw him, he was talking to the Celestials.
but its apocalypse, no self respecting x-men writer would- oh...
Heh.
NRAMA: Namor kind of walks the line between both sides, doesn't he?BMB: Yeah, and he always has. He does whatever's best for him and his kingdom. I love the relationship between him and Doom. I always have. The only change that was made from the original pitch was that Magneto was not available. So we sat down and thought, who would replace Magneto? And the idea of Emma was brought up -- I think Fraction said Emma. And that's not something I would have suggested unless an X-writer suggested it. Emma now becomes the most interesting person in that room. Now, it's like, why is Emma in that room? And Matt and I have been working diligently to produce some really interesting stuff for her. So when you read Secret Invasion: Dark Reign, I actually rewrote it to be from her point of view, because I think her point of view is the most interesting. The initial meeting of the group will be seen through her eyes. I had the meeting set, but when Emma became part of it, it just became that much more interesting. So now Emma's the one who has to make some hard choices.
If this would have happened, Magneto wouldn't be given any good reason to join this group, and it would turn out similar to Acts of Vengeance, I'd hunt Bendis down.
NRAMA: So we'll get to hear what's going on inside her head?
ENLARGE IMAGEBMB: Absolutely. From page one of Dark Reign Special. Because we know what Doom wants, we know what Namor wants, we know what Loki wants, we know what everybody else wants. But Emma has wants as well. And is she willing to go this far to make them happen, in this climate?
And I'd like to publicly speak to Joss Whedon, whom I haven't spoken to about this. I'd like to tell Joss, I'm not going to undo all the work you did to make her awesome.
I see tears of happiness on ExodusCloak's face.
