It only has "phenomenal power" because it has magical properties. If were nto magical it would be useless, much liek the wooden sword that Sora used in the beginning of KH: 1 .

If the keyblade is blunt and can't cut, why does it cut through the rock titan?
because it's magical, and if memory serves me right it doesn't "cut", when you hit it like, like everything else in those games a bunch of black liquidy like stuff flies off. Either way know cutting is done. When you hit it in say the leg the leg doesn't fall off, nothing comes out etc. When you cut something what's being cut is severed. If nothing is severed then your not cutting it.
