Metron talks to superman thru his prison and states that the source must be letting him witness the destined fight........Miracle man keeps denying he is being used by the dark side of the source and starts to use the full anti life equation and vows to destroy infinity man and things get really crazy...superman is noticing mister miracle is using to much power near the source wall...metron says this is all part of the plan....
Mister Miracle seems to destroy infinity man and doing so breaks the source wall....this causes superman to be knoced out..and starts the sources plan to reunite with his other part...huge distortions in reality and some universal energies displayed as metron tells mister miracle to go with the flow like superman..which he replies"superman is unconsious"lol after its over Metron talks to the now whole source and mister miracle is stunned to know the deity he worshipped is not all he thought it to be..the source is cold and calculated in its response to them, mister miracle cant seem to come to grasp with the revalation and asked to be killed(i think) so there goes his heart and his life......
Metron then has last words with the source and tells the source of his displeasure with it, how its to cold and metron says something he thought he would never say"i think i have seen enough" and then he is killed and thats when superman awakens to both bodies...he searches for infinity man and states he is going to apockalips using a boom tube which is fast and he should surprise the killer( at this point i dont think superman knows of the source becoming whole)...Now we get to Darkseid who has gambled on a fromer plan of his, and that its a fifty fifty chance it will work..
either Darkseid will become the architect for the new universe or he will be kileed..its worth the gamble...As the source confronts Darkseid who is the last new god left they exchange words when the source says to Darkseid that this was not expected(Darkseids final plan) Darkseid respondes...Then you have already lost HEHEHEHE....To be continued

Agreed. Seemed he was, physically, too much for even the angel of the source.

The latter having to go for incapacitation instead.

Later on, [during the IM/MM battle], Supes asked Metron to release him -- more or less saying that he could put an end to the conflict.

Funny thing is,
Metron didn't disagree with Supes regarding that statement in the slightest -- he was just unable/unwilling to help big blue get out.

+1 in the respect department for Clark.

this issue is just another stroke job for the man of steel. In the DC universe everything seems to revolve around Superman. 😘

And it's a testament to how much stronger Supes has gotten if they're actually saying he could beat Infinity Man in a slugfest. 😱

Yeah, the whole point of Final Crisis seems to be Darkseid's victory.

So between the spreading Mortioccus and Darkseid stealing those powers from Jimmy, soon, in Countdown and his possible defeat of the Source in Death of the New Gods... and his removal of Earth's chance to construct the Life Equation way back in Firestorm... and the check-mating of the powerful if recalcitrant villain community in Suicide Squad/Salvation Run... and his spreading of the Crime Bible since all the way back in 52 (it's obvious that Manneheim, Egg Fu of the Great Ten, and the rest of that whole crowd have ties to Apokolips)...and the defeat of both Monarch and the Monitors....

It seems like the DCU universe is... kinda f*cked

I wonder how the Alpha Lanterns are going to play into this? A recent Newsarama interview with Geoff Johns stated that Morrison invented them, and that he has plans to use them in Final Crisis...And what are the Legion doing mucking about too? Why did Brainic and the rest of the Legionaries need a Flash?

And is this going to tie into all the thematic things Morrison laid down way, way back in his JLA run? Orion's affirmation of the the rise of the Armies of Man, foretold in prophecy, Metron telling Kyle that earth has the kind of soil that can birth gods...

man THIS is how crossover events should take place. Not just 'ooh! Superman Prime just punched through reality! Everybody run!" but with careful planning, all these hints and clues and prophecies.

Between this and Blackest Night, this is a good time to be a DC reader.

Hell, this is a good time to be a comics reader in general. There's like a million titles either coming up (Secret Invasion, DC/Wildstorm: Dreamwars, Blackest Night, Final Crisis) or already out there that are just SO exciting.

My guess is that Brainic has Barry in that tube. With the way hints about Pre-Crisis Earth One and Earth Two characters are being thrown around... like classic Despero in Meltzer's JLA and in Booster Gold, Per Degaton, and a few others... it would make sense to get the first guy to pierce the dimensional barriers as a secret weapon.

Plus... since Wally was accidental, why else were they reaching into the Speed Force?
