Soulcalibur 4

Why put friggin Yoda? They should have added a different character like Obi-Wan or Anakin's apprentice in that new Star Wars flick (don't really like that character, but at least put someone besides Yoda).

Doesn't a wide-eyed little girl padawan seem a bit out of place for a game like Soul Caliber?

It really does sound out of place but hey, it's better than Yoda. I'd choose an irritating padawan more than I choose a 3 foot tall muppet that wields a lightsaber. Seriously, Yoda looks like a midget elf that's gone ill (which is why he's green). I'm saying all this because Yoda is not one of my favorite characters in Star Wars for some reason.

Who is your favorite Star Wars character?

Yoda does suck a whole lot of rotting skunk shit.

He probably did while living on that swamp planet.

His run is the most pathetic sprint I've seen in a fighting game and in videogames period.

Okay, you don't need to be vulgar like that. Keep your language civil, thank you.

Edit: Not that it matters now. I caught a sock. 😊

Yoda doesn't suck.

He has greater adventages and superior mobiliy more that any other character might, i think.

The only person i'd trade Yoda for is D. Sidious. (for the 360)

Pro's :
-can use the force for an extra jump juggle hit

-can use the force for a guard impact special

-jumps before everything he does makes it slightly hard to guess what he's doing, including grabs

-cant be grabbed or hit with most High's due to height

Con's :

-slow 8-way run

-gets soul crushed way too fast

-not many moves involving the force

-like 80% of his moveset involves him jumping, which can result in him getting counterhit (a bad thing)

-can be easily wasted with most of the other casts verticals and low attacks

-his only good damage option requires alot of force which usually results in overuse of the force meter, which causes a brief stun and then a period of recharge time in order to perform this again..
and even then this option does mediocre damage

Yoda is completely overrated.

He is what you call "gimmicky" at first sight, because people will be "omgosh, horizontal can't hit" he's broken?! Even at the SC Forums I'll read foolish remarks like that, however as Satsu has stated, Yoda has a piss poor 8-Way Run, and most of his attacks involved jumping, forcing him to become easily predictable.

Then you have the fact Yoda's reach is ridiculously horrible so to conclude at the end he's not as high and mighty as people claim him to be. Seriously, in this game so far, The Sisters, Mitsu, Ivy etc, etc are way better characters then Yoda.

Although I miss the older more powerful Xianghua, I really like this version of X, simply because she requires more effort, so their's less whining and crying from players who go "You play X because she's uber good." garbage comments.

I'll always be a Mitsu player, 2B ftw, however X steadily grew as my secondary...I tried Kilik...I hate all of his 180-360 attacks, yeah, he's played with a zoning, positioning mentality, but I just don't like that in a 3-D fighter like SC.

One of these days I will start taking Siegfried seriously as a character and try to really play and break him down.

People must be feeling really stupid after buying the 360 version 😆

Why? Both SW characters are coming over downloadable content for both consoles. I'd feel more stupid for buying a PS3 version, since I own a 360 😐

If I'd bought the PS3 version I wouldn't be able to play on my 360. Now that would be really stupid.

I might check this game out his weekend. Looks like fun.

Wow, I really should've saved my $60 and bought Mercenaries 2 instead.

Ah I love Yahtzee, but not when he gets facts wrong.
His complaining about being able to throw his way out of every fight, is just not true at the higher levels of the Tower. And those stats he said didn't change anything regarding throwing or anything, also isn't true. Grapple Break makes it very easy for you to resist being thrown, and Nullify Ring Out lowers the chances of being thrown out of the ring. Other then that a good episode.

Read (or watch) Yahtzee for comedy, not for valid reviews.

Most reviews when it pertains to fighting games, almost None of those fools have absolutely any idea, and I mean this, they don't have Any idea what they are talking about.

First let me show you some few examples...I remember many reviewing magazines and even online reviews back when Tekken 5 was released, reviewers where claiming this as this greatest and most strategical Tekken game of all time.

That notion right there, pretty much says it to any serious Tekken player that these guys where either high, or the more obvious, they had absolutely no idea what they where talking about.

Tekken 5 was the absolute least strategical Tekken at the time (Tekken6 looks to be and is the worse now), and definitely not the greatest Tekken game there ever was.

Then other horrible reviews such as back in the day this time pertaining with Soul Calibur 2...especially from the guys at EGM, who claimed this was the greatest fighting game ever up to that point. Even in their "strategies" one guy was talking on in the reviews about how "cheap" Raphael is, and that you could beat anyone just doing one move, however he would go on to say that SC2 was the most balanced fighting game of it's time.

LOL What I ask is...who are these people who do these reviews. In fact, some of us (me included) directed our attention to EGM telling these so called "gaming experts" how wrong they are about fighting games, and how wrong they are when they review fighting game depth...however, surprisingly they could not even give out a legitimate reply in return, only to show just how little they really do know about fighting games period.

For starters, Raphael's AAA is stupidly easy to Sidestep and punish, even to GI this thing is ridiculously easy to catch...whomever loses to this (especially so called gaming review experts) does not know how to play SC2, nor do they truly know how to utilize the 8-Way Run System...something that they talk so much about...but seemingly don't know how to use it avoid a 3-hit attack that is super linear 🙄 .

SC2 was not the most balanced fighting game of its time, in fact it was far from it...Xianghua owned that game, Mitsurugi's KB2 practically owned the entire cast, Taki was incredibly strong in that game, etc etc.

So I must ask...can fighting game reviews (not other reviews, but fighting game reviews particularly) be taken seriously from the majority of these guys at all? I mean...what puzzles me is how guys like those people at EGM make best strategical/balance for "insert fighting game"...but yet, they themselves don't even know how to SS/Walk, GI a single AAA attack from a character.

The greatest Soul Calibur game of all time is still SC1, because it didn't have over the top garbage stuff, it required alot of effort by the players to actually understand the game engine to be effective and good at, it was the most balanced SC game to date.

So to me, giving SC2 the greatest fighting at the time was completely false, which to me is like an absolute slap in the fact to all of the fighting gamers out their, simply because these guys didn't do their homework...I could name off numerous fighting games up to SC2's time that where a much better fighting game, and better deserving of the G.O.A.T. Title.

However, the saddest part was when you actually had gamers, who will read these things, watch these guys statements online and then believe it as the gospel truth about these fighting games...which is completely depressing. I've had people saying to me "Well, this fighting game is good, because 'Insert Random Reviewing Mag/Online" guys says it is."

So to conclude, I cannot emphasize this enough, hold these reviews with a grain of salt, nearly the majority of them when it comes to fighting games are absolutely ridiculous. They should hire me to do fighting game reviews...because the majority of them really don't have any clue what they are talking about, and I could do a better job.

Sorry about this, however watching that SC4 review reminds me of how really pointless these reviews absolutely are sometimes.
