They are a lot different. DMC is almost solely about evasion, you need to use a specific 'style' called Royal Guard, which only came about by DMC3, to even fight in a blocking/defensive/counter attacking manner.

GoW is about half and half evasion and blocking/counter attacking.

Moves lists wise, before GoW3, DMC definitely had a bigger moves lists. But I never really liked it as much as God of War's style which makes up for fewer moves with more fluid animations and being able to link EVERY motion into another.

I like GoW better than DMC, but their styles are a lot different. DMC's style has a direct competitor in Ninja Gaiden. Which is superior in depth as its basically a fighting game engine (DOA) implanted into an action game setting.

I like GoW and NG equally but differently. Loved DMC1 but the series has been forgettable since that one.

As it's been already said, GoW and DMC use different "fighting engines" and definitely different game engines.

Ninja Gaiden's stupid difficulty is what keeps me coming back. One of the few games where difficult doesn't mean frustrating.

Anyone else not find NG hard?

The Thor and the new Reaper unit in starcraft 2 are pretty damn awesome

Nope... at first I thought that NG1 was hard, but then I played NG2 and realized that 1 was easy.
