Not the GoW gods, who are by their very purpose in the game derived from existing material, vis a vis, Greek mythology. The whole point of GoW was to craft a hack'n'slash game out of references to Greek mythology.
How it is presented is what is important, Dragon Age: Origins uses Elves, Dwarfs, and Orcs (Darkspawn, but who are we kidding), but presents them in a way that is original.

Not really saying the same is true with GoW, the characters are meant to be homages to the pre-existing ones, though apparently the series as a whole was based on Harry Hausen movies... Which is weird but whatever.

Also, in terms of even popularity, I am pretty sure Zelda stands above God of War. Seriously. ๐Ÿ˜

Yeah, the way DA๐Ÿ˜ฎ goes about elves and dwarves and such I rather liked, as it was quite different from how they are generally presented in fantasy (because who's joking - just about all fantasy written since has drawn heavily off of LOTR).

Though I do prefer traditional fantasy elves ๐Ÿ˜›

That's rather a different case. Elves, dwarves, and orcs have become medieval fantasy staples, whereas the Greek gods are specific, singular entities.

And I'm still not sold on Dragon Age being terribly original, honestly. Admittedly I'm not far in it, but just an immediate example is that oppressed elves as a lower caste has been done for years in the Tales series.

By a long shot.

Oh, it's really not. It pretty much just takes the usual tropes, tosses them in a blender, and them matches them up to names at random ๐Ÿ˜›

Well Lord of the Rings is the archetype of the fantasy genre, which IMO is a well-deserved title, but it is good to see something different, and IMO Bioware has some of the most well-written games there are.

...definitely going to disagree on that, I find myself consistently disappointed in Bioware. DA๐Ÿ˜ฎ is their best title, IMO, and even that I wouldn't classify above "very good".

Greek Mythology is so prevalent in fiction it may as well be a genre itself. ๐Ÿ˜

The plight of the Elves in DA is more supposed to resemble that of the Jews, or so I hear.

Dwarves are not Scottish.

This is a big deal. ๐Ÿ˜

Now you're thinking with Quan-tum power!

All this talk of dragon age makes me want to go play it some more, but then I remember I have neverwinter nights 2. I still need to go get revenge for my rogue though lol. Also Nemebro does demon souls have multiplayer. I heard it did but I wasnt sure.

I like that pun. And Imma have to steal it next time we try to teach him physics.

Can anyone say Quan-tum Physics?

Kinda.

It has online gaming, in that you can do shit like invade a game and kill the person, stealing their souls.

You can also invade the game as a friendly gai and do things.

Also you can leave hints in the game to help newbz out.

Stuff like that.

The boss battles were unique in gow.

Yeah? And exploding after being rear-ended was unique to the Pinto, but you don't see anyone putting THAT on a pedestal.

But in all seriousness, and going back to Shadow of Colossus again: EVERYTHING was a boss battle. That seems way more unique, because nobody had done that before. And having played both games, I'm going to keep SoT on my shelf, and GoW with the drink coasters. God of War relied way too much on quicktime events, which they sure as hell didn't start themselves. Hell, one of (or the, I haven't researched it THAT far) launch titles for PS2, The Bouncer, had combos in the form of quicktime events. Combos that usually killed anything you put into them. Sound familiar?

Just bceause it's based off of mythology doesn't mean it isn't. it doesn't follow the events of mythology either.

...I tried to figure out what you were saying. I really did. I tried. But all I could do is tilt my head to the side, stare blankly at the screen, and have an aneurysm.

The fight with the phantom one from the pictures was hardly original or cool to me. Maybe at the time it came out but playing through this game now it just seems lame.

Getting bored with something doesn't mean it wasn't original. You thinking it was lame does not make it unoriginal. It just means you think it was lame.

I feel the way gow presented itself was new and original you can disagree all you want.

Man, visit fanfiction.net sometime, people have been utterly screwing source material / canon for their own interests for YEARS. God of War wasn't the first.

Iyo but most fans disagree. The sales of both series say which game the fans enjoy more. Money talks and gow far eclipses pop

By this logic, crack cocaine is WAY better than God of War ever was.

How terrible did that movie do again?

Actually, I've gotta agree with you there. The GoW movie was WAY be-WAITAMINUTE.

Iyo it sucks but money talks like I said. That's what these things are done for to make money and those that do are a success.

Talk to the owners of the first batch of 360s. Boy have they got stories.

Neither do I. I do, however, think they have terrible taste.

Who the hell are you?
