Oh god the horror. Now you must tell the children, dear. Don't leave them out. ๐

So yeah. The other day when I was at work there were two kids, one about 8 years old and the other maybe 11 or 12, asking about...something. I think how long Halo Reach was. My coworker said that it took him about 10 hours to beat on Legendary, and he was expecting something longer. They were surprised that he thought that was short.
I then commented on how I tend to find any game under 20 hours to be short, and I tend to play games that take at least 40 hours to play. They thought that I meant I've played it a bunch of times. Nope, 40+ hours for one playthrough. Rudy asked if they ever heard of Oblivion, and when they said no, said that you can easily sink 150 hours into a single playthrough of that game. They asked if that included multiplayer. They were flabbergasted when told that it is a single player game.
Seriously. They could not comprehend the idea of a single player game that takes a long time to play once.

Simply a case of looking back with Rose-tinted glasses.
Twas looking back at some older stuff myself, and its a lot worse than I remember. We're older now, and thus jaded.
