So tomorrow I'm starting my first ever final fantasy game.

Which one?

I rented 13 earlier today, because the store didn't have anything else I wanted to try.

You are in for a great game friend. Don't listed to the haters out there, it's an absolutely masterpiece and one of the finest games ever made.

I witnessed my brother drop kick a snowman. One of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Well you didn't even cry like a baby during the sad scenes in Elfen Lied so that's all that needs to be said there.

But in all seriousness, it has the finest visuals in a game to date, the best menu based RPG battle system ever, coupled with amazing music and an amazing storyline. The only other game I can really think of that excels so well in every catagory is Metal Gear Solid 4.

You both made me rethink my standpoint.

Nah. Storyline was okay, music was not great IMO, nothing noteworthy. Battle system was admittedly pretty good. Finest visuals? Nah. Would not even consider it the best Final Fantasy, many are above it.

Yeah, FFXIII is nowhere near the best FF game.

It's not my favorite but I'd probably consider it the overall best. Its on par with any of the other FFs in storyline (aside from Tactics and Vagrant Story) and music, with by far the best battle system and visuals, imo at least. I actually also liked that it was really linear. Don't really get why people complained about that so much, as if the other Final Fantasies were so exploration heavy.

That Generator Rex season finale was awesome.

Elfien Lied is a terrible. Nothing but nudity, ultra violence, and incest, with a not so impressive tragic story. Basically a attempt to place dark twist of the magic girl genre. I swear I was reading someone's bad fan-fiction.

13 not the best FF ever.

Because it was so incredibly linear there was little worthwhile to do short of the main story?

Of course it had the best visuals, it was on a superior system. 😐

Tactics is best Final Fantasy though.

I wouldn't say it was even slighty of the magical girl genre, twist on it or otherwise. One question, did you guys read the manga or watch the anime? I watched the anime and to me, Elfen Lied was effectively tragic due collectively to the dark tone and atmosphere, the manner in which the characters were developed, the moving music, and the sad themes at play. I've seen people say it lacked subtlety and whatnot but I don't think it did to the point that it became overwrought or anything and if anything I'd say subtlety can be overrated.

And XIII is objectively the best Final Fantasy ever.
