That is standard shit. haermm I managed to get a player who namedhis character "Trogdor The Burninator" emotionally involved in a campaign, kthnx. 131

Ahhh, but the real trick is can you do that to people who have been RPing for years and have seen just about everything you could possibly imagine? And yet still pull that sort of reaction? Can you pull off things where years later just the slightest mention of it causes everyone to go ohnoesplz?

Most of the Dark Side players can be struck dumb even now just by mentioning the Ghost Citadel. Those who can't, didn't play it.

The stuff the Jedi have been going through recently is hilariously horrible.

GAAAAAH GHOST CITADEL.

That's like...become our yardstick we measure our games against now ๐Ÿ˜‚ Even though who haven't played it have some reaction to it, simply because of how those of us that did play it react.

Newhaven had some serious "oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit" moments, as well.

And how about Matrix? Jesus.

And personally, I would say that getting your players emotionally involved is one of the very basic things that any GM has to be able to do, and if you can't do that, you're not very good. So don't hold that up as something you can do as if it's special, Scream ๐Ÿ˜›

Oh god the Sentinels. Sentineeeeellllls. **** that flight. So much.

Playing Matrix games is purely for the masochistic.

Man, you say "**** that flight"...you did not have to wait a week being unsure if you're alive or dead ๐Ÿ˜›

When your players are to roleplaying what mercury is to healthy, the type of people who name their characters Trogdor, getting them emotionally involved actually is quite the achievement. Anyone can be devious, I got someone with ADHD and pyromania to stop burning things and pay attention to just how devious I was. 131

Yes. ๐Ÿ˜ If you can't run a memorable campaign, you fail. ๐Ÿ™

Now, get people emotionally involved in Paranoia, the antithesis of serious roleplaying where players are encouraged to creatively break the rules and pander shamelessly to the GM, and you've got something. 131

Getting non-roleplayers to roleplay on a normal system > getting roleplayers to roleplay on a less serious one.

Disagree. Getting non-roleplayers to RP is actually very easy.

We do it every year at ACen. Very easy indeed.

Non-RPers at ACen? uhuh A likely story. ๐Ÿ˜

90% of the people who attend don't even know what RP is.

Can't take Demon's Souls.

I've played four different games in the last few weeks, and the one I liked was the Final Fantasy game. My world has been turned upside down.

Can't take it as in too hard? Or can't take it because the game feels weird?

One of us....One of us...

As in, it's awful.

Let's see how long it takes for someone to insult your taste. Probably won't take too long.

Indeed, let their insults sustain me.

You have good taste.

No he doesn't. I used to think that perhaps I needed to "expand my horizons", get a better taste for all the wondrous games out there that aren't shooters.

And then I met Moo, and I realized that I'm perfectly fine.

I mean, I get pretty damned stubborn about what I like and don't, but I'm at least willing to try things and give them some sort of chance (for the most part). He doesn't at all.
