I think EVs have been around since the very first games. Gen III only introduced a limit on them. IVs were new though.Gen IV was a complete 180 in gameplay from III. It went from a primarily defensive game back into offense. You should know this since you seem to focus on the gameplay system, which tells me you actually put more effort into the game than the story mode. Anyone casual would and should be focusing more on the Pokemon, the most important part of the game.
Gen IV kept the stuff that's been added while adding in the Battle Frontier, customized Safari Zone, the PokeAthlon, and managed to crush types weak to Rock into a fine powder.
V has so far fine tuned everything some more while putting in Pokemon sports minigames, the Pokemon musical, and some other stuff that I just haven't gotten to yet. So far the game is also more difficult. As well as being pretty fresh. There isn't a sight of an older Gen Pokemon until you unlock the National Dex.
But I only called that a fabrication because of the less and less original claim.
Meh, I try to forget about Stealth Rock. Thanks for reminding me about its wretched existence. >: Skarmory and Spikes from generation III was enough for me, then they had to take it to a whole other level with a rock type version of the move. Lovely.
The Battle Frontier? That's been around since Emerald dude.
Still find the Pokemon musical rather silly, but I'll definitely give the minigames a try, as always. Figured as much about the rest.

And FireRed/LeafGreen are the best versions. All the simple style of the originals with the expansive additions from the following generations.

And have you seen Ludicolo? Mexican racism. At perhaps it's finest.

I....don't believe I've ever lost a battle to another person in a Pokemon battle.Because I did it for fun with friends who were just as non serious about it as me.
Except when the ****er turns their game off when you're about to win. Then I hate them. >_>

I have to agree with Moo on Lucario. His colors are too flat and he's not visually striking in any way. The blue is too light and mellow and the blacks too gray and lifeless. And the sandy color is again, neither light nor dark, just a really boring color. He's stuck between too dark and not dark enough to be interesting looking imo.At least according to his official picture.

I think bringing three Fire Prisms and two Wave Serpents with Brightlances is a bit overkill and reeks of metagame bullshit Mechaloser. O:Edit: Also, no one mentioned Deoxys, one of the few never gen Pokemon that is cool. For shame.
As for action replay, pretty much the only justifiable thing about it (to me) when it comes to Pokemon is using it to get certain ones that normally can't be obtained (Mew, Celebi, Arceus, etc). Fortunately though, the "events" Nintendo holds for those have become more and more accessible over time, so hacking isn't as necessary to get those legendaries now (for those who want 'em bad enough).
edit: Oh hey, Quan.

Not to mention the retarded ass change they made to Rotom's alternate forms.

Scenario's pretty patient, yes. Shit's earned my respect many times.Generally by the time I've been convinced someone's thicker than solidified bacon grease he's still bringing up the evidence he's already posted ten times.

Dragon Age two today. I may make my return to these forums here so tread lightly. Your time runs short.
That fact that these two events coincided greatly amuses me.
In related news, I've never tried to play much of anything competitively, much less pokemon. Mostly because I'm terrible at building teams what the "I use my favorites" thing.
