Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

I have to agree with Moo on Lucario. His colors are too flat and he's not visually striking in any way. The blue is too light and mellow and the blacks too gray and lifeless. And the sandy color is again, neither light nor dark, just a really boring color. He's stuck between too dark and not dark enough to be interesting looking imo.

At least according to his official picture.

I don't. I was only defending the use of an Action Replay.

The action replay makes me sick. I want a challenge in my game so that when I'm rewarded for my effort I feel all the more proud of myself. I like having to work to raise a Golden Chocobo to go get the best materia in FF7. I like finding all the heart containers so I can see my life bar be completely full in Zelda. I like raising my Pokemon team to the point where they can beat the Elite 4 and the Champion. I like working for my rewards.

Action replay is not work in the slightest. Much as I dislike IV and EV training Pokemon, I can respect it for at least being work.

Ask Cyner, I'm a rapist. And I do work for my pokemans.

We became buddies? 😮

I think bringing three Fire Prisms and two Wave Serpents with Brightlances is a bit overkill and reeks of metagame bullshit Mechaloser. O:

Edit: Also, no one mentioned Deoxys, one of the few never gen Pokemon that is cool. For shame.

Really? I rather dislike Deoxys in all honesty. haermm

Damnit, Aura, you love me and you know it.

So let me ask you something Aura. Why do you care if we create Pokemon instead of taking the time raising them? What is wrong with playing the game for battles over the enjoyment of the single player experience?

How many MMO's have you played, by the way? You sound like this dude I used to know.

But you still misunderstand about the Action Replay. It's basically just used to create a Pokemon that is still within the statistical limits set by the game. So it's hacked, but still legal. So you won't see a Mudkip with base 150 attack in a legit competitive battle. As far as I know most people still play single player legitimately. Action Replay just takes the hassle of IV breeding and EV training away.

In other words, takes all the effort and achievement out of it, so that people who would have no chance on fair terms can take on their superiors in that style of play.

Because damn it people put work into making these games and cheating to get something makes their work seem down right wasted. If you buy the game, play the game and put in the effort to get what you want out of it. Cheating is just a down right disrespectful way to succeed. It's not challenging and it's not entertaining.

Do I now?

Edit:And I don't play MMO's.

I only approve of the use of AR for certain things.

Like for kingdom hearts 2. There's a code that lets you fight multiple bosses at once. It's a real challenge taking on anywhere between 2-5 Sephiroth's at once, let me tell you. 😉

You know there is no real skill to raising a Pokemon, right? All it takes to EV train is an ability to count. And all it takes for IV breeding is an assload of patience. The real skill takes place in team building and battles.

And Aura, you are of an opinion with which I disagree. It's closer to fast forwarding than it is to cheating.

I suppose cheating to get more challenge is fine....still messing with original work but hell, more bang for your buck I guess.

I don't care about skill. I care about effort.

No....it is cheating. Deliberate outside interference to make your Pokemon stronger is cheating. As is abusing glitches to do so.

Except it doesn't make them any stronger than they can be naturally. And the skill portion was directed to GK, who made the argument about skill.

Skipping past the hours, days, months of grinding in favor of what is easy is a generally unlikable thing to me. It's not work. It's not getting what you paid for, which should be a challenge.

Battles are challenging.

Not as challenging as raising a Pokemon from the ground up.

I was referring to effort, the act of doing the thing which gives its completion merit. The time devoted to training a favored Pokemon into an unbeatable powerhouse. While I don't subscribe to the play style I can appreciate that effort on a good player's part.

Undercutting that effort with cheats is simply attaining the goal without the effort that gives the goal meaning. It's a hollow pointless act. Which is why I ask, why bother? Any success is false. "Fast forwarding" is only a rationalization that doesn't change the fact you are avoiding the work that makes it all worthwhile.

You know, I am moderately sure Moo has been trolling for the past few pages guys.

Probably. But I'm bored. So, point? 😮

I'd make a team with Action Replay if it were for competitive play.

I don't want to train a pokemon for two weeks just to be able to use it in battle.

Although me and Screampaste have regularly done battle with our regular mons
