The new versions see fit to baby me with a metal claw, which I do not care for. And Onix>Falkner. Or a nicely trained Geodude.
O rly? Easily would me being my vine whip to flick Onix into a state of not living. Not using a not very effective attack like ember.
Mankey is only in Red and Yellow. Meaning if you want to be really hardcore, you'd play Blue. Holy **** is Brock your mortal enemy in Blue.

Why is that, out of curiosity? How does having a fighting/colorless nullify rock/fighting types?
I guess fighting Pokemon just punch through things so much that rocks are simple pickings for them.
So, on to the subject of a GOOD game.
I was playing my new Demon's Souls file today, and was in the Stonefang tunnels. Was gonna go bag me some Crystal Geckos for their phat lewt.
When some ****ing Black Phantom (Which is another player who invaded my ****ing game), stabbed me in the back, getting massive damage on me, and sent me down the hole with the Crystal Geckos, the Geckos upon seeing me ran and burrowed away, depriving me of lewt.
However, what this chode did not expect was that I essentially built my character to be a wall nearly impervious to damage. I survived having a sword jammed in my back, and the fall. The loser Black Phantom jumped down the hole and died from the fall. Was cool.
Then the same loser Black Phantom invaded my game, and tried to kill me again. O: But I am of course a wall, who wields a tower shield and a spear, meaning I can block while attacking. He could do no damage to me, and I poked him to death. I am so cool.

Play the newer versions, Aura. Updated ones. Level 13 Pidgeotto that has Roost. Falkner will rape your shit. And yeah. Brock can easily be beaten by Charmander's Ember.
And like I said before, you can also get a Mankey early on in R/B/Y, making Brock pathetic with any starter.
Loser.

Actually, the earliest you can get a Mankey in Red is after reaching Cerulean City. Even in Yellow Mankey aren't available until after you beat Brock. So unless you trade for it (which doesn't count), no Mankey.Loser.
Actually one can get Mankey early on in Yellow before Brock. One of the many choices the game gives you in order to beat Brock.

Butterfree is still available. It is not more difficult because you refuse to use something. That just makes you dumber.
Butterfree have a nasty habit of being quite feeble.
In short, Charmander is a harder Pokemon to start with.

Uhh, Butterfree is weak against rock...wtf are you talking about?
I don't think Brock had any rock type attacks. And Butterfree can learn Confusion, though it has to be level 12 whereas my level 10 Bulbasaur could beat Brock while half dead.

Did not think he'd have that unimportant of an opinion.

You all treat this weakness nonsense like it's a match decider. It's absurd.I smashed Brock with Charmander and a Pikachu once. It isn't exactly difficult. Just takes a little thought.
The plain and simple fact is that Charmander, compared to Squirtle and especially Bulbasaur, is the more challenging to use and train at the start of the game.

Early on weaknesses matter quit a bit.
Great. But you know, you had to put effort in order to defeat him. Whereas the other two starters have to exert nil effort.

Ah, forgot about Route 22."A little thought" is more than it takes the other two to Vine Whip or Water Gun Brock into pitiful submission.

Yeppers.
