The riddle is asking you why the creature did what it did. It does not provide any information that would lead you to another answer than that the fowl had an alien reason for wanting to cross.
The only reason you can give, is that the fowl had reason to cross. The rest is just nonsense that's there to irrationalize an otherwise simple question.

I've never heard it before. The reason, I suppose, is because no one has been arsed to tell me. It's not the most rewarding joke to tell, or to hear. I can't imagine it intended as a joke, though. Not one meant to be understood initially at least. And any joke that either need close consideration or to be explained, is by my definition a poor joke.
A half-witted riddle could work. It was an entertaining read and all, I enjoyed it, but I just can't imagine it a joke.

I approve of that magician. I remember a RP character in a past RP whose power was affecting the numbers of physics. A weird power, but an awesome character.
